Description: September 17, 2013 following the Disastrous Colorado Floods...Picnic In The Park will Re- Open on February 1st. 2014 and Ready to Serve Estes Park Locals and Visitors!Picnic In The Park is a Wood Fired Pizzeria and Deli located at 552 W. Elkhorn Avenue in Estes Park, CO, just West of Downtown and 4 miles from the main entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park located next to the historic Elkhorn Lodge on the Big Thompson River. Picnic In The Park features authentic Neapolitan style wood fired pizza using Italian imported "00" Caputo flour, Italian imported San Marzano tomatoes which are grown at the base of Mt. Vesuvius in the rich volcanic soil near Naples and we use only the best high quality, freshly prepared, natural and low to no preservative ingredients available. Our NY Style Deli Sandwich is famous and touted as the best in town and true to and rivaling those on the east coast. The quality of our food and the wood firing shines through in the great taste experience you will have with any menu choice at Picnic In The Park. In the summer season, Picnic In The Park turns on its Rotisserie Oven and roasts chicken, corn on the cob (seasonally available) and serves traditional style picnic sides like potato salad and baked beans. We will create you a wonderful picnic basket meal in a traditional picnic basket or backpack that you can take along and treat your family to in the park or at our outdoor seating. Or try a great sandwich and snacks stuffed in your backback for a majestic RMNP hike. When you are finished with your day in the beauty of RMNP, treat yourself and your hungry family to a wonderful mouth-watering pizza hand made and fired to perfection in just minutes. Picnic In The Park prides itself on Friendliness, Cleanliness, and Quality and we work hard to be consistent in all of these areas so that every customer experience is as good and as important as the last. We not only greet you when you come in but we greet you when you leave, we are always happy to meet new people and visit with both new and old friends. We are newly remodeled, with modern yet rustic decor, and we provide an atmosphere that is not only inviting but interesting to experience. “Best pizza ever!”
Reviewed August 12, 2013

The information agent in Estes Park visitor center told us to try this place for pizza, he was right! Everything was made with fresh, homemade ingredient and you could taste it. Many different specialty pizzas or create your own. I would have given it 5 stars, but this is basically a take-out place. The have to little picnic tables in the kitchen (very hot) to eat at. The pizza was the best I have ever had, bar none!

“Quality People, Quality Food.”
Reviewed August 10, 2013 via mobile

Came across Picnic In The Park while driving through Estes after a long day of hiking in RMNP. The town was mayhem and parking was going to be an issue so I kept driving through and was about to turn around and give the town another go around when we spotted this joint. A quick spin on Tripadvisor and we decided to give it a shot. Boy do we have a winner here. The 3 days we hiked in RMNP were 3 days we hit up this spot for wood fired pizzas and sandwiches and of course the sacred after post hike Mexican bottled Coke. Awesome food made with fresh ingredients by ownership who genuinely cares about the product they are putting on the plate and the people they are making it for. We thoroughly enjoyed talking with ownership each day about our peak bagging and hiking of the day. As our last meal in the park we called in a pizza, a couple Mexican Cokes and some hot out of the oven chocolate chip cookies and headed into RMNP to take in the sights and reflect on our 3 days in the park. If you are in Estes Park or just passing through, hit this joint up and chat it up with this perfectly located, welcoming, gem about 5 miles away from the Fall River entrance to RMNP. Great location to grab food while heading into the park or great to stop on a return trip from the park or hiking adventures. We look forward to returning our next time back to Estes Park. Oh and 2 words... bread pudding. Get some. You'll understand.

“River side pizza”
Reviewed August 7, 2013

Great Wood fired pizza on picnic bench next to river. Sprinkled evenly on all 4 pizzas. So 12 of us had the best lunch. Texans, Montanans and Coloradians.

“So good!!”
Reviewed August 4, 2013

We came upon this place by accident, trying to avoid the Main Street traffic. I'm so glad we did! The pizza is the best pizza I've had in a long long time. Buffalo chicken is what we had. The crust was so perfect, thin, but crisp, best flavor. It was cooked in a wood fire oven. We also had a salad that was enormous, topped with everything, and to top it, homemade salad dressing. Then, homemade chocolate chip cookies for dessert. I just wish they were closer to us in Denver! I rate this place A++ for great food, and great service! Oh, and you can eat outside by the river!

“Great pizza”
Reviewed July 31, 2013

We have had three pizza's here and love them. One delivered (very fast) and two take out. The higher price is well worth getting a pizza cooked in a wood oven using fresh ingredients. If you want cheap pizza you can go elsewhere but it won't be as good. We will continue to keep coming back.
