Good location within walking distance of downtown restaurants and shops. The older room showed signs of being worn. The Inn has showed great signs in overall improvement over the years, but you are paying for it. The rooms are not worth what they are charging for a stay. We were traveling with one pet and she slept below the air conditioning unit, which was oddly in a closet. She ended up with bites all over the underside of her stomach.

The Silver Moon is the best place to stay at in Estes Park. FANTASTIC location within walking distance of downtown and along the river. The staff are great. The rooms are wonderful and well priced. I cannot say enough wonderful things about the Silver Moon. We stay here every time we are in Estes Park and wouldn't consider any place else. Usually have a large group and their two 2 bedroom suites work great for the family. Pool and hot tubs are great after a day of hiking.

If you're wondering if I'm biased or just blogging to up the ratings for this place, check out my review of the Stanley Hotel. We stayed there our first night in town, then at the Silver Moon Inn the next two nights. Night and Day.

At the Silver Moon, we really liked the location close to the "downtown" shops, didn't realize how convenient this place would be. Loved being able to walk to dinner or just to stretch our legs. Great pizza, ice cream, burgers, breakfast, all within a couple of blocks. We got our food to go and ate at the tables on the river at the Inn, so refreshing.

We loved being right on the river edge and relaxing on the bank with a good book to read while the kids played on the rocks (ages 7 & 10). The swingset was a little rickety, and is set over paving stones, which is not safe, but this is my only request for improvement. Our kids could have played on the banks of the river for a month and never been bored. They constructed little rafts of sticks and weeds and raced them down stream. Pure, old-fashioned fun. They didn't ask to play their video games once.

While the bathroom was tiny it was clean and lovely and boasted a marble floor. The room was dark (it's backs up right up to a cliff and the front lot is very shady) but we only wanted to be in the room to sleep. The room's biggest benefit was air conditioning! We loved waking up to the sound of the river and the kids appreciated having a pool to swim in as well. We didn't try the hot tubs, but the kids said they were nice and warm. The river sounds drown out other noises, so we never heard any neighbors or street traffic, only kids in the pool.

Breakfast was simple, just packaged pastries and juice bottles, but it was considerate of them to offer it at all, our expectations were very low after our night at the Stanley. The restaurant across the river from the inn serves an early full breakfast, and they will even pack up a picnic lunch to take on the road if you're headed out to see the sights for the day.

While it's just a cramped little desk in the back, my 10 y/o was even able to check her e-mail and keep up with her friends back home on their guest PC. She appreciated that perk. We were early for our check in, but the front desk let us use their facilities and pool until our room became available. They do give you a parking permit so you can use their convenient lot.

The Inn had a requried 3 night stay to book on-line. We could only stay 2 nights (we wasted one at the Stanley) so I called and they were willing and happy to accomodate us anyways.

Within driving distance of the hotel we found horseback riding in Rocky Mountain National Park c/o Sombrero Stables (we chose the location that's actually in the park instead of riding in town). And we drove up to Fort Collins (1.75 hrs) to do some white water rafting c/o A-1 Whitewater which was a phenomenal experience. Highway 34 takes you through some stunning scenery including a high rock-wall canyon. FYI, there are no discount stores in town (WalMart, Target, KMart) you have to drive to Loveland or Boulder to do any shopping like that).

Unfortuantely, we missed out on the evening fires and marshmallows at the Inn. My 7 y/o was so at home there, she went off on her own to the front desk to inquire when the marshmallow roasting would begin. Unfortunately, it didn't happen that night, so they sent her back with two fistfulls of cookies to share with her sister instead. Too nice.

Oh, and they have a nice laundry room too, plus in-room coffee. The soda machine was easy to find.

Bottom Line: I'm already planning our next trip we'll plan to stay at least a week.

We will definitely call the next time we plan a trip to Estes Park!!

Just wanted to share with you our experience at the Silver Moon Inn. We were at there over the 4th of July weekend, 2009. We stayed in room 219. The rooms were very nice, clean and spacious, and above all, every staff member we encountered was friendly, warm and helpful. We felt like we were at home. I loved the location the most; the river running in front of the hotel. It was very relaxing! My 5 children loved the pool, jacuzzi and my little one enjoyed the play area. We will definitely call the next time we plan a trip to Estes Park!!

Amazing hotel close to downtown Estes Park. The rooms are very clean. The owners and the staff are very friendly. They have Wi-fi avalible. The outdoor pool and hottubs are quite nice. The river runs right in front of it. This is the fifth year we have stayed there and it has been excellent each time.

This was our first trip to Estes Park and I think we found the best value for the money. The Silver Moon Inn is easy walking distance to downtown Estes, but still feels "away from it all." Our double queen room in the newer section was clean and spacious, and we loved sitting on the balcony, sipping wine, and watching the beautiful Fall river in the evenings. We also enjoyed the free evening concerts in the town amphitheater next door. The front desk staff was welcoming and friendly but we really didn't need them for much during our five day stay. We took advantage of coin laundry after hiking in the RMNP each day. Will definitely book again when we return.
