We recently returned from a family visit to Estes Park and McGregor. We have stayed here many times before and have recommended it to others frequently. This time we were treated rudely by Bridgette. She told us that each cabin has only one parking space and that we could not park 2 cars in a space next to a cabin that can house 8. The car was not sticking out but she felt it could be in the way of delivery trucks or some such. So we were supposed to park next to the lodge and carry our belongings up the hill to get to our cabin. Next she rudely told our family that we could not adjust the temp on the hot tub, even though there were children in it. It would affect the chemicals in some way. There is no sign stating that the temp must not be changed, nor is the temp knob locked so that it cannot be adjusted. We discussed these incidents with owner Chris when we left, and he assured us that there was no validity to either of her assertions. However he also did not offer any concessions for the unpleasantness that we encountered. That indicated clearly to us that our business is really not valued there so will be looking for another location to stay while in Estes Park. Our daughter and her family will not be back nor will we be recommending the lodge as we have in the past.

Ted and Lois,

We are truly saddened that you feel you were mis-treated by Bridgette and won't be returning to McGregor. As you can see, your review is an anomaly in all the good work we do continuing to welcome guests to this beautiful part of the country. I must apologize if you feel Bridgette was not accommodating in the parking situation and felt mistreated when addressing concerns about the hot tub temperature. The fact that you feel your stay was anything less than satisfactory is indeed upsetting. We strive to keep guests happy, safe, and warmly welcomed to return with us year after year as you have been doing. I can only offer my sincere apologies.

Chris

Wonderful location near the entrance to the park. Individual cabins with privacy. Large living/kitchen/family room, bedroom and bath. Most units require climbing several steps to enter. Not sure if they have wheelchair accessible cabins. Large windows in each cabin that look out onto the Estes Park valley. Cabins are very clean with kitchen equipment and flat-screen TV. Daily towel service and extra blankets if it turns cold. Wood burning fireplace in each unit. One bundle of firewood is provided each day but it's rarely enough if the weather is cool. You'll want to enjoy the ambiance of the fire in the evening. Friendly staff that provides help on any questions you have. Fresh hot cider and cookies in the lobby each day and free local newspapers that tell what is going on in the area. Deer and elk often roam next to the cabins. Stellar jays, chipmunks and wild turnkeys feed on seed spilled from the bird feeders throughout the resort. A wonderful place to spend a few days.

Spent four days at McGregor Mountain Lodge. The place was just great. So much wildlife around. Felt like I was in a very secluded forested area but had all the comforts of my home. The property was exceptionally well taken care of and could ask for nothing more. The people running the place are so accommodating. i would never think of staying anywhere else when coming to Estes park.

Another stay at McGregor Mountain Lodge - another time in Paradise. The location is perfect, near town and restaurants, but still quiet and peaceful. What we like most is the wildlife. This time we saw wild turkeys for the first time. And of course Elk and deer. We really feel like the Old Caretaker's Cabin is a second home. Thank you to the staff for being so friendly and helpful. Free internet, too. We'll be back.

Room tip: Best views from the Chalet, but all rooms are great.

We got a bit unlucky weather-wise (rain/snow in September), but the lodge was absolutely incredible! Perfectly located not too far from town and right around the corner from the national park entrance, this was an excellent pied-a-terre for several days of hiking and relaxing. When we arrived, the owner (I think she was the owner?) greeted us with a big hug and home-baked chocolate chip cookies (she was the sweetest person!!!). The hot tub was also really nice on chilly nights (private indoor hot tub that you can reserve for 30 minute blocks!). Overall, stunning location/incredible views, and wonderful experience. Would definitely choose again if we're ever back in the area, no hesitation!!
