Finding a place to stay is a somewhat daunting task, especially online. What we found at McGregor was a true gem! The cabin was absolutely the cleanest I have found anywhere!! The staff was "down to earth" and committed to our satisfaction at ever level making this experience most memorable! It is a very special place in a very special setting run by very special people. If you are considering a trip to Estes, let me recommend McGregor as a MUST destination!
Thank You for serving us...we will long remember your fine operation and the incredible time we spent at your AWESOME cabin in such an AWESOME part of the world!

Hi John and Lindsay!

Thanks for taking the time to make a "shout out" to the traveling public out there who read these reviews when chosing a place to stay in the Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park region! So glad that you all found us, and enjoyed your stay with us here in our little slice of heaven.

Each response and comment left by our guests only helps us strive to become better in what we do. And we also strive to move up the ladder into the #1 spot for Trip advisor and specialty lodging in and around Estes Park.

Our summer is soon upon us, and we enjoy seeing more and more individuals coming during the shoulder seasons when traffic is minimized and the park is under its winter blanket with wildlife experiences right outside each cabins front door!

May you all have a glorious and fun-filled (and cool!) summer, and we hope to see you all back at McGregor Mountain Lodge in the not too distant future.

All the Best,
Chris and the staff at McGregor Mountain Lodge

McGregor Mountain Lodge is the place of choice whenever we think of Estes Park and RMNP. There is an abundance of everything good -- friendly, genuine hospitality; immaculate, modern accommodations; daily wildlife for watching -- elk. mule deer, wild turkey, long horned sheep, various birds, and even an elusive fox. Each of the staff goes far beyond the call of duty to make certain your stay is a memorable one, which includes fireside conversations in the lodge office, not to mention chocolate chip cookies baked daily to munch as you sip hot tea or cocoa. We accidentally "found" McGregor over 25 years ago, and now we return annually for a wonderful relaxing time. Once you've experienced McGregor, you will want to come back. It's a very special "home" away from home.

Room Tip: We've loved the Upper or Lower Chalet and any of the cottage units.

Thanks so much for writing a review for us, and, of course all the kind comments. We work each and every day to make McGregor "memorable" for our guests...and, a place that is indeed special. As we gear up for a new season, with fresh insight and hope for a year free of natural disasters, we thank those time and again who have been the bread and butter of our business...YOU!! Those that return year after year, time and again to share this slice of heaven with us. Thank YOU for telling your friends about us, and now the world...as we continuously strive to be that #1 Rocky Mountain choice! It is YOU who have helped us survive the challenges of fire and flood, and because of YOU, we enjoy getting up each and every day to welcome guests through our doors and share in their excitement time and again, as if it were our very first encounter too of our resident lodge Elk and other wildlife treats that happen to wonder by.

Thanks for being a part of what makes McGregor Mountain Lodge so special. We certainly look forward to many more visits fireside, and wish you all the best for a lovely summer filled with wonderful surprises!

We stayed at the McGregor Mountain Lodge for the first time this spring break. And we have got to say it was even better that we could imagine. Susan and Mike were both so welcoming and helpful. They went above and beyond to accommodate and guide us on our visit. We got cookies, tourist books, suggestions and directions for things to do. It was our kids first experience with snow and we built some wonderful memories at this lodge. Not to mention the cabins was very clean, relaxing and cozy. The view was incredible and we always had something to do. From up enjoying the Rockies, the wildlife, sledding by our cabin and Hidden Valley, snowshoeing at Bear lake, and even go do some skiing at Eldora. I can't say enough positive things about McGregor. They made our trip exactly what I imagined for us. We look forward to coming back soon!!!!!!!

HI Gabby!

It was so great having you and your family with us this last week, and we certainly appreciate you taking the time to write us a review on trip advisor as we try to get into that #1 Tripadvisor place. I think, you'd agree, that McGregor deserves that spot for so many reasons mentioned in your review. We love having guests share their "magical" experience with friends and family, and helping spreading our good word about the lodge.

It wont be long now and the 1500 bulbs we planted last fall will start making their spring and summer appearance. Brat and our other lodge "folks" are ready for spring too...I think!

Hope you have a great rest of your week, and we certainly look forward to welcoming you and your family back with us at McGregor! Hopefully, sooner rather than later!

From beginning to end this was an amazing place to be. The wildlife right outside my door, the warmth, cleanliness and welcome from the owners all A plus. The room was a perfect size, clean and peaceful. I was here an entire week and it definitely was my home away from home. I couldn't have asked for a better visit to the area. Was convenient and quite thrilling to open my door to "Brat" the Elk. Loved it!!!

Hi Lia...it was certainly great having you with us for the week you were here in Estes Park! Thanks, too, for taking the time to write us a review as we work our way up the ladder to that #1 position with Trip Advisor. It has been a bit of roller-coaster spring for us with snow, then warm temps, then snow...so typical this time of year. I'm guessing folks will be snowshoeing in the park this season right up to Memorial Day! And probably beyond. The snow totals are simply staggering.

We hope to see you back here with us at McGregor, maybe as soon as October! Have a lovely rest of your spring, and hopefully a pleasant and cooler summer!

Best!

This was our third winter stay at McGregor Mountain Lodge, and we've never been disappointed. Two of those three times we have stayed in the Upper Chalet Unit, #17. The views are awesome and watching the birds and resident elk from our room or deck is lots of fun. The staff is welcoming and helpful, and the crackling fire and warm decor of the office is inviting. Coffee and homemade cookies, comfy couches, and friendly dogs make a trip down to the office well worth your time! Our unit was comfortable, and we liked being able to make our breakfast, pack a lunch for some snowshoeing, and prepare our evening meal if we weren't going out to the many restaurants available in Estes Park.

We were at McGregor with a group of people, and the picnic tables and porch swings in front of the Chalet make a great gathering spot for sunny afternoons, even in March.

The lodge is very close to the Fall River entrance of Rocky Mountain National Park where an abundance of trails await you.

McGregor is truly a home away from home!

Room Tip: The views from the upper Chalet units are awesome!

Hi Marsha!

What a lovely review, and we certainly appreciate you taking the time to shout out to others out there that have yet to experience McGregor Mountain Lodge and all we have to offer. It is always great to see so many of you that come back time and again throughout the year. Some we are seeing as many as 5 times in a YEAR! Just a testament, too, that Rocky Mountain National Park changes all the time and its fun to experience it in ALL seasons.

We just had a good dusting of snow yesterday, but now, by day's end the sun had basically melted the 4 or 5" of snow that came and went. It never ceases to amaze me just how quickly the weather does change. A reminder too when hiking to always be prepared and take a rain jacket, or coat!

Hope you had a great weekend, and we certainly look forward to seeing you all again in the near future. Happy Spring!

Oh my gosh, McGregor Mountain Lodge is the best kept secret in Estes Park. Chris, Michael, Susan, Steve, Carlos pay attention to detail, the cabins are clean, fresh, cozy. It's so relaxing to have such beautiful views, wildlife right outside your windows. We've stayed here over and over and it's still our # 1 spot in Estes. I was blessed enough to stay here for 50 nights while working up there. Hiking or snowshoing right out your cabin is the best. Loved being able to have time with the dogs; Alex, Tanner, Bentley, Starbuck. We'll be again and again. In fact we're taking a long weekend in early April.
We love to give gift certificates for McGregor Mountain Lodge! I've been going withdrawal from not seeing the dogs, Brat and Little Boy as well as all of your wonderful, friendly faces.
We will never stay anywhere else! Love, love, love McGregor Mountain Lodge and staff:)

Room Tip: The Heather Cottage is so private and quiet, yet every cabin is wonderful!

Hi Char!

Was so good having you with us for a bit and almost felt like a permanent 'neighbor' for a bit. Pretty sure the dogs miss you..going to check for "treats" on a regular basis...and probably Brat too!

I am sitting here at the fireplace (you can envision it) with snow dancing down from the heavens. The smell of fresh brewed coffee and baked cookies is lingering yet in the air, and guests are coming in and out getting towels for the hot tub, talking about their snowshoeing adventures. Things seem to be "starting" to get back to a little bit of "normalcy", but yet a ways to go!

We sure appreciate your kind remarks, and your new earned friendship with us all here at McGregor.

We'll see you in April!

Hi Donna,

Thanks for your kind remarks! We certainly appreciate them, and have so many like yourself that love the Columbine Cottages. Today, Brat dropped his last antler (somewhere out there) and it always amazes me how fast they start growing back in prep for the fall Rutt season. That's always a fun time to be here and see the animals.

Today, in addition to Brat and Little Boy (the resident Elk), we also saw 12 mule deer...both does and bucks, as well as a fox, and a coyote...just waiting for the big horn sheep to show their faces!

Hope we get to see you all soon! If not, have a great St. Patty's day, and Easter!
