The weather wasn't on our side as we began our trip but, the Kokopelli Inn just what we needed after a long day of traveling from the east coast.
We had reservation in the newly renovated "Whispering Pines Suite" it was beautiful. Had a nice comfy bed, a little couch, and a kiva fireplace in the corner. We are all set to settle in for a relaxing evening after we went out to get some take out for dinner. It was still raining so we didn't feel like staying out.
Upon arriving back at the Inn - June and Butch left us a note saying if we would like we could stay in the Kokopelli Suite - What a great Upgrade and surprise this was. I guess the folks who reserved this suite cancelled due to the weather. This suite was more perfect than the Whispering Pines Suite as it has a wonder dual head marble shower and it was just wonderful. The bed was one of the best beds I'd ever slept on while away from home. We had a most enjoyable and relaxing evening in this suite. So wish we were staying on this side of the park all we as we definitely would of make the Inn our home base.
Breakfast the next morning was simply scrumptious - a wonderful quiche, great homefries, fruit cup, great pot of tea, there was also a baked apple tart. We were the only guest at the inn this morning so we had some great conversation with Butch and June. They were great host - Since it was rain/sleeting/snow on the Trail Ridge Road we needed to head to the west side of the park a different way so Butch was kind enough to suggest a scenic route - (this was one I looked at while planning but couldn't figure how to get to it from Estes Park). The scenic route was the Cache La Poudre-North Park Scenic and Historic Byway it was a long way around but worth the ride.
If we ever return to the Estes Park area I am definitely staying at June and Butch's KoKopelli Inn.
And if you are looking for peace and quiet this is the perfect location its about 6 miles outside the hustle and bustle of Estes Park. PERFECT!
I forgot to mention we had chocolate covered strawberries waiting for us upon our arrival.
