We spent our Valentine's Day weekend at Ester Park and we were very glad that we picked Lazy R Cottages to stay at! Location was great, easy to find and very close (7-8 mins drive) to Ester Park visitor center. Lovely wooden house which we had our breakfast at the deck looking at the breathless mountain view!! Natural wooden bed frame with super comfortable mattress, big fireplace, a nice sill which can seat next to the window do some relax reading, handy kitchen, big bathroom with full set of towels. Just that the futon had some sound while sleeping on it at nite. Services was really great, staffs are always helpful and friendly (including 2 lovely doggies at hte office), on top of that they provided free breakfast during weekends, free DVD rental, free snowshoes rental too!

The Elk Ridge Retreat is not located on the main Lazy R property. It is about 7 miles south of Estes Park. This is a fantastic secluded property. I believe they told me it is on 4 acres. Behind the cabin are really beautiful rock formations that are enjoyable to hike in (all private).
The cabin is perfect in all respects. It is obvious that a lot of work has been put into a recent high quality remodel. It is tastefully decorated and really feels like what a mountain cabin should feel like. The kitchen is large and has all of the conveniences of home. It is fully stocked with tablewear and cooking utensils. You will have everything you need. The beds are unbelievable. The top mattresses are about 14 inches thick and really comfortable.
Being outside of town is a good thing. Many of the cabin complexes in Estes Park are small and closely spaced. Also, many of them are right on a busy road. The Elk Ridge Retreat is worth the short drive to town. Often times you will be teated to an elk herd viewing on your trip.
Everything, including the hot tub is in great working order. It also has a full size washer and dryer.
There is a large living room and a big separate dining room that would be fun for large families or a couple of families.

Our cabin in the Lazy R Cottages was fantastic! We got a really great deal and we loved having our own cabin. We stayed in the black bear cabin and it had it's own private hot tub, fireplace, kitchen, grill, and covered front porch. That cabin allowed dogs, so our chocolate lab got to enjoy a trip to the mountains. It was super close to the 'touristy' side of estes park, and just as close to rocky mountain national park. My personal favorite part about the cabin was the journal they kept inside. All of the couples/families that stayed there before us got a chance to write in the journal and share their experience. My husband and I stayed there for three nights as a getaway from Denver and it was absolutely perfect. We will most definitely stay there again.

Hi-Rocky Mountain Resorts had an amazing deal going on for January for their different properties. Rent 2 nights and get the 3rd night free, a free annual pass to Rcky Mtn Nat'l Park, and free snowshoe rental. The pass alone made the deal pretty sweet; we will use this all year long. We just took up snowshoeing and dont have our own equipment yet, so the free rental was another added bonus. And who wouldnt love and extra night on a getaway. The cottage we stayed at was 'rustic', but, clean and cute. Don't expect luxury. Although some of their other properties have more luxury going on plus hot tubs. We went on the cheap. We had a little flat screen t.v. w/ built in DVD player and cable. After long days of snowshoeing it was great to veg out in front of cable; which we don't have. We spent many evenings at the Estes Park Brewery which was just down the road; very convenient if you like a good fresh microbrew. I would do this again in a heartbeat. Tara S

At first this hotel seemed like a great deal, but it turned out to be the perfect idea. My friend was visiting from out of town, so we wanted to go somewhere where we could just take it easy with little distraction, and this was a great pick! It is very quiet, with only the occasional visit from the famous elk that live in Estes Park. We had everything we needed as far as the kitchen accessories went and there was plenty of room for our stuff. The toilet acted a little funny, and there was no bathroom soap, but those were the only vices, and they were not enough to damper our trip in any way. The people were friendly and they even upgraded us to a larger cabin than what we reserved! I recommend Lazy R Cottages to anyone trying to get away from it al!!!!

This was the second time we stayed at Lazy R Cottages, partly because our daughter loves the Bighorn Cabin so much. We do too. Besides, it is very close to the National Park. It is a roomy cabin with two bedrooms (one with a full + twin bunkbed), a bathroom (with a bath and plenty of room for taking care of a baby for example). The kitchen has a a microwave, big fridge/freezer and great stove with oven. There is a nice dining area and a "living room" with a fireplace and a tv with dvd player. The office has a great collection of dvd's to borrow. The furniture, most of it made of logs, together with all the bighorn pictures and trinkets, gives this cabin a very cozy feel. I think the other cabins are similar. Descriptions can be found on http://www.rockymtnresorts.com/locations/lazy-r-cottages/accommodations/
The playground on the property makes this place extra nice for children. The free wireless internet was another feature that made us come back here.
The only thing that I did not like, was that the furnace was a bit noisy and started with cold air. I guess that is just the way it is, but people who very light sleepers should probably not pick this cabin in the wintertime.
