We stayed in the Evergreen cabin. It looked like it had been updated recently - everything was new, very clean, comfortable. Not huge, but big enough for the two of us - basically like a large hotel room. It's in the middle of town just a couple blocks from the main strip so we could walk to dinner. The cabins are all clustered together closely, and our deck was right next to the entrance drive, so it's not super private but that didn't bother us. Easy access with parking spot right next to the door. They had a cute central courtyard with picnic tables right behind our cabin. Very quiet even though you're surrounded by other cabins and houses. If you're looking for a cabin in the woods, this isn't it, but if you like the convenience of being in town, this is better than a hotel.

The cabin was clean and well stocked with extras. The views are stunning. It is so much better than a hotel being that we could all be in one room comfortably. So close to restaurants and shops. Although there is a full kitchen, we didn't use it with all the great restaurants around there, our favorites being Big Horn and Notchtop. The cabin is well taken care of and very comfortable. I would gladly stay again and highly recommend it. The owner was on site and very helpful.

What a great little spot. We had one of the larger cottages which was great for our girls getaway. The cottage was super clean and obviously very well taken care of. The beds and linens were soft and comfy and also seemed very clean. The cottage is right above the downtown, only about a 5 min walk. We also walked over to the Stanley hotel which was very close as well as some in town hiking trails. The cottage has a fire-pit, picnic tables, and a grill for common use outside. I think this would be a great spot for several families to plan a trip together with the shared common area. I am definitely interested in staying here again in the future.

Spent a long weekend fishing the Big Thompson River and this was a perfect base camp for me. I stayed in the Aspen and the only thing that's keeping me from giving the cabin five stars is that the cabin has a common wall with another cabin and that cabin had some excited children that were a wee bit loud sometimes but nothing I couldn't handle.

Loved the ease of check-in and check-out. No one there to hassle you but close enough if you had questions or issues.

I would definitely stay at River Rock Cottages again but I would try for a stand-a-lone cabin if available.

We stayed at the Wapiti cottage and we had an amazing time! We stayed for 2 nights which was perfect for a little getaway. The cottage had everything you could need including staple cooking supplies like salt, pepper, oil, sugar. We learned from Terry that the cottage was built in the early 1900's for the wrokers that were building the Stanley Hotel. Great view of the Stanley Hotel from the back driveway. Beautiful views with a 2 hour horseback ride (you would have to hike a LONG way to get those views!). We will be back for sure!

Room Tip: The Wapiti Cottage was nice because it was a block or so away from the other cottages. Quiet and awa...

We returned today from an overnight stay at the Fern Lake Cottage, and had a great stay. The cottage is listed as sleeping up to six, but I would say to limit this to four adults and two kids--rather than six adults--as it would be pretty cramped. The cabin was very clean, with plenty of towels and linens, a fan in each bedroom closet (necessary given how stuffy it feels at night) and a fully equipped kitchen. They had a kettle, coffee pot, toaster, oven, and things like salt and pepper (and other spices and oils left by previous guests). The toilet even has a permanently attached (but not inconvenient for adults) child seat in the lid that can come down for little ones.

The location is incredibly convenient; Safeway is a two-minute drive, as is downtown. You could easily walk to main street as well.

The area was really quiet in the evening, making it a very peaceful atmosphere.

One of the kiddos left their toy under the bed, and the owners called us right away--something we weren't expecting, but which greatly appreciated!

I would recommend these cottages to families, friends and couples alike.

Thank you for taking the time to post a review! Our location is really convenient. We live at the back of our property and so enjoy walking everywhere downtown. Glad we were able to catch you before you left town to pick up the toy... crisis averted!
