“Great view of Crescent Beach!”
Reviewed July 23, 2012

We stayed here two nights in a "king view room" which is located in the south wing second story. From the room we had a super view to the south of Crescent Beach. The room was clean and the service at the front desk was excellent. Parking was good, but there was no elevator. We had a broken bathroom window lock. There is a road leading to the marina just below the view windows and the noise of early morning boaters headed for the marina woke us up both mornings. The breakfast area is small with limited seating. It was an easy drive to the Redwood National and State Parks from this location. Grocery stores and restaurants in every price range were in close proximity.

Traveling from Northern California to our home in Florence, Oregon we had the pleasure of staying at the Anchor Beach Inn in Cresent City, Ca. The hotel was right on US1201, so access was easy, the room was spacious and clean, and their breakfast nicely done. Would not hestitate to stay there again.

Room Tip: Room 102 is pet friendly and clean.

I should have trusted the opinions of previous reviewers. This place is a dump. The view is of trailer trash. (See picture.) Noisy guests who appear to be semi-permanent residents with BBQ's on the 2nd floor hallway. We cannot wait to get out of here in the morning. Absolutely the worst hotel of our week-long trip. Stay away, far away.

I didn't have a lot of time to research motels - it was sort of a last minute overnight trip to the coast - and wasn't sure what to expect. My main criteria was to be close to the ocean - didn't seem to be too many options there and the closest other beachfront motel was in Brookings @ $200 a night!!! Too pricey for us! So I took a chance - we were very pleasantly surprised with our room. The clerk, Claudia, was sweet and very helpful on check in. The room was very large - with extra furnishings - table and chairs and even a desk. Free Wi-Fi. Micro and fridge as well. Very clean - bed was comfortable. The only thing I would fault would be the TV - could use an upgrade. We had the ocean view - each room has a cool bay window! Easy access to the ocean right across the street with a perfect sandy beach for strolling and enjoying the sunset. Not quite close enough to go to sleep hearing the waves. The hot tub was better than the ordinary - nice and hot and the jets were good - especially for the lower back. Another guest told us they had asked them to turn the heat up as it wasn't hot enough - so they were accommodating. We skipped the typical continental breakfast fare to go to the restaurant behind for a real breakfast. All in all a great place to stay.

Room Tip: Just a heads up....The rooms without the ocean view have a view of a "charming" RV park! T...

So i cant say anything about things like breakfast, wifi etc., all i saw was a room looking a little bit shaby, but: everything working, cosy bed, shower good, all clean, thick wall (or good neighbours...). And the view in the morning was exciting. Thats all i wanted and i got it. thx.

Clean, fresh, everything works, beds are comfy. Walk down to the beach easy. Free breakfast with my favorite: OJ and waffles. 4 instead of 5 stars only because it's not the ritz. $100 for 3 people with AAA. Friendly maid service and front desk.

Room Tip: Center rooms on the U-shaped hotel have the best ocean views - 2nd floor.

We called on the road and were quoted $59 for the night. Upon arrival a different clerk quoted a rate of $79 - he said due to the dog, though the first clerk did not quote a pet fee. The room was clean but absolutely STUNK of smoke. When we asked for another room, the clerk said that was the only pet-friendly room. The smell was so noxious, it stayed with us days after. If it hadn't been for the lateness of our arrival, we would have gone elsewhere. Also agree with the review of the "hot" tub which was warm at best, and gross-looking.

On the plus side, the motel is right next to a beach long enough for a nice walk, with hardy California surfers. We thought the breakfast was fine, and did appreciate that they had a washer/dryer for guest use.

Room Tip: Ask for a NON -SMOKING room if you don't smoke - the smoking rooms reek. The rooms across fro...
