“Decent hotel in Crescent City”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 10, 2014

Nothing super fancy. Many of the criticisms are somewhat deserved, but take with a grain of salt. Rooms are large, clean, and relatively quiet. Staff is friendly and helpful. For a place right on the highway, this is a very good hotel. We had a front room, and didn't find the road or parking lot traffic bad (top floor though).

Overall, we liked it and would stay again when passing through Crescent City!

We really loved our one night stay here. Entry to the rooms is through the main entrance and thus much safer than most of the national budget chains. You can safely tell your kids or grand kids where you're staying without they worrying about your safety. Staff is very friendly. Be sure to get an AAA or AARP discount. If they don't , tell them they gave it to me!:) Breakfast is also very good.
A/C is excellent. I would definitely stay here again if I pass through Crescent City.
P.S. On Garmin navigation, you might miss the location. Our Garmin took us to the Econolodge a mile & a half away! Look for the board between Best Western and Super 8 on the right side as you're traveling North 101

Room Tip: Choose upper levels

The Light House Inn is a good choice for Crescent City. Located in the “southern” part of Crescent City, the hotel is on Highway 101 and thus very easy to find when driving north. Rates include a modest breakfast and free and reliable hi-speed internet. The staff was friendly and helpful; the room large and comfortable. Two good restaurants, the Northwood and Harvest Garden, are within walking distance and are immediately north of the hotel.

Room Tip: Consider a room not facing Highway 101 or the parking lot in front of the hotel

The Lighthouse inn was a very nice place to stay. Check in with KC was fast and easy. I was a little worried because they put us in a room next to kids but they were quiet all night. Room could use some updating but was clean. Sink is not in the bathroom but outside in the room. Continental breakfast was pretty normal. Bagels, toast and English muffins. Oatmeal, cereal and some donuts and juices. It was enough for me. No pool or hot tub so if you have kids they will be bored.

This place was a pleasant surprise, especially when comparing what the town has to offer. The room was VERY large despite the fact everything in it was probably greater than 10 years old! It was a pleasant experience, room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was very cozy, almost like a BB experience. If we were to ever stay at this town again, we would stay at this place again, unless a big National Chain opens a new place in town!

The inn is easy to find and has good proximity to some good restaurants. The guy at the front desk was nice but a little over the top. A couple of times there were employees smoking right next to the front door. The rooms and the lobby were clean. The beds were a bit hard but manageable. The continental breakfast was good - with warm fresh donuts.

After reading the rave reviews and having the hotel sold out on websites I called and was really happy to hear there was a room available. I gave the guy on the phone our details and was given a rate of 103. Per night before taxes apparently what they charge with triple A. We arrived at the hotel and checked in with no problems. It was easy to find and straight off route 101. The guy at the desk said something about giving us a better room and we were happy with it. Not long after as I was waiting for my boyfriend to get all our luggage out of the car another couple came to check in and asked for the same type of room we had which was one king bed. The guy said yes there was rooms available and then whispered the rate, giving them a price of $20 cheaper than we just had paid with same triple A discount. In the morning I double checked the receipts and didn't see any discount was applied and was told that was the rate they charge. I have no issues paying for a room, but find it ridiculous that they would pick and choose the prices depending on the person.

The bed was rock hard and extremely uncomfortable and the supposed upgrade was a view of the parking lot so not sure where than came from. The toilet needed to be flushed several times as it had very week pressure and our sink drain didn't work so any time we brushed our teeth it filled the sink. Overall I reckon there are better more honest places you can stay at and I wouldn't stay again.
