“Great stay!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 26, 2014

The Lighthouse inn was a very nice place to stay. Check in with KC was fast and easy. I was a little worried because they put us in a room next to kids but they were quiet all night. Room could use some updating but was clean. Sink is not in the bathroom but outside in the room. Continental breakfast was pretty normal. Bagels, toast and English muffins. Oatmeal, cereal and some donuts and juices. It was enough for me. No pool or hot tub so if you have kids they will be bored.

This place was a pleasant surprise, especially when comparing what the town has to offer. The room was VERY large despite the fact everything in it was probably greater than 10 years old! It was a pleasant experience, room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was very cozy, almost like a BB experience. If we were to ever stay at this town again, we would stay at this place again, unless a big National Chain opens a new place in town!

The inn is easy to find and has good proximity to some good restaurants. The guy at the front desk was nice but a little over the top. A couple of times there were employees smoking right next to the front door. The rooms and the lobby were clean. The beds were a bit hard but manageable. The continental breakfast was good - with warm fresh donuts.

After reading the rave reviews and having the hotel sold out on websites I called and was really happy to hear there was a room available. I gave the guy on the phone our details and was given a rate of 103. Per night before taxes apparently what they charge with triple A. We arrived at the hotel and checked in with no problems. It was easy to find and straight off route 101. The guy at the desk said something about giving us a better room and we were happy with it. Not long after as I was waiting for my boyfriend to get all our luggage out of the car another couple came to check in and asked for the same type of room we had which was one king bed. The guy said yes there was rooms available and then whispered the rate, giving them a price of $20 cheaper than we just had paid with same triple A discount. In the morning I double checked the receipts and didn't see any discount was applied and was told that was the rate they charge. I have no issues paying for a room, but find it ridiculous that they would pick and choose the prices depending on the person.

The bed was rock hard and extremely uncomfortable and the supposed upgrade was a view of the parking lot so not sure where than came from. The toilet needed to be flushed several times as it had very week pressure and our sink drain didn't work so any time we brushed our teeth it filled the sink. Overall I reckon there are better more honest places you can stay at and I wouldn't stay again.

All the positive comments ring true -- friendly front desk, big room, clean, everything worked that is supposed to work. A good place for a quick overnight. But on the other hand, small things were just disappointing: Old-fashioned not HD TV (big flat screen in lobby); one reading light over the king bed, not two; blackout curtains close only with the help of a couple of rubber bands or a clip; people simply walking on the third floor seemed to be stamping on our second floor ceiling. We had the most expensive room in the place, with Jacuzzi, but it's a shower/tub combo when there is plenty of room to do them separately. Overall we enjoyed our stay, but these drawbacks made us feel someone is not paying attention to how people actually use their rooms. Also -- room came with one wash cloth and no extra blanket or pillows. Front desk asked us to come downstairs and carry the requested items up to the room, which we did.

Room Tip: On the second floor we could hear people walking around on the ceiling. Take a top floor.

The rooms are huge, they include all of the amenities that we needed and the staff went WAY out of their way to be friendly and keep this charming motel extremely clean. The Continental Breakfast was average, but filling. When the breakfast room became too crowded, they opened an adjoining room, we did not have to carry our food back to our room.

The lobby is cool, perfect for a town on the ocean and redwoods abound!!!
Beautiful lobby - the miniature houses set high, the antique looks and all. Wide hallways that I have not seen in such properties... Easy access - right on 101.

Room was spacious and came with refrig and microwave.

Only disturbing thing was in the morning when someone in the parking lot kept honking to get their family (member) to leave - did that half a dozen times, was so irritating. Didn't feel the lot next to the window until that happened... not the hotel's fault anyway.
