“Great breakfast at a home away from home”
Reviewed November 8, 2012

We stayed here on our way up the Pacific Coast Highway and felt at home immediately. Curt met us with tea and home made cookies, and for breakfast we had fresh bread as part of an amazing spread. The location is a bit off the beaten path but absolutely breathtaking, overlooking a shallow, rocky tributary and surrounded by redwoods. A forest lover's dream!

Curt and Meg were amazing hosts! The location of this B&B is perfect if you are looking to immerse yourself in the redwoods you cannot find a more beautiful location. We stayed in the lower level and felt like we had our own apartment which was neat and clean with a comfortable bed and an updated bathroom. Curt made great breakfast every morning and we chose to have dinner as well as Crescent City is extremely limited with mediocre food. Curt was very friendly and helpful with our plans, he made us feel right at home. If you are heading to the redwoods, do yourself a favor and go visit Curt, Meg and Anton. This will be one of the best B&B's you will ever visit.

Room Tip: Lower level is private with its own kitchen and family room and access to the river. Upper level ha...

We took some time off between Christmas and New Year and drove up to see the redwoods. The house is on the Smith River tucked away in the forest. There are many national and state parks nearby, so there were many choices of places to go and hike. The house is quiet and a great place to hang out on a rainy day. We're planning to go back in the fall.

My family stayed at bnb Hiouchi a few weeks ago, and it was everything we were looking for - a break from the hustle and bustle, in a peaceful, natural setting. Amazing views from all rooms. Breakfast is great - homemade muffins, granola, eggs, and more. The home-cooked meals are healthy and tasty. We kept busy for a week, just hanging out, swimming in the river, hiking, hot-tubbing. The downstairs suite is a great getaway space for a family: sofa/chairs/TV, raised dining table w/stools, kitchenette, bath, bedroom with daybed. The kitchenette has refrigerator, microwave, sink, dishes, silverware, cutting boards, knives. We prepared all our lunches there. AT&T cellphone reception. Wifi. The owners are friendly. They can chat and provide information about local hikes or let you be peacefully reclusive. We hope to make it back again!
