“Excellent food and service”
Reviewed October 21, 2013 via mobile

Our hotel highly recommended this place and I was a little reluctant, but oh so pleasantly surprised! I had oysters Rockefeller and it was excellent at $18. My husband had snapper with orzo pasta at $19 and it was superb. Lisa our waitress was great, very attentive and friendly. Would definitely eat here again. Very good food, very good service. A little expensive, but worth it.

“Friendly, Comfortable, Good Food, No Complaints”
Reviewed October 18, 2013

Because it was adjacent to our motel we chose the Northwoods for our dinner and were quite satisfied with the food. Service was friendly & attentive during our off-season visit. The menu offers good variety, they have full bar service.

Although not the cheapest place in town to eat, with most entrees being priced in the low-$20 range, the food was fine and all in all we were quite happy with our visit to the Northwoods.

“Eating in a cave!”
Reviewed October 14, 2013

We recently stayed at a local hotel in Crescent City and the breakfast that was included with our stay was at this restaurant. We got the feeling that the only reason the place served us was probably because of a deal with the hotel as the servers could have cared less if we were there. The food was fair and lukewarm as it came from the breakfast bar. I guess the best thing we can say about the breakfast was, it was better than eating cold cereal in some ways.

Having said that, I don't know what their regular patrons say about this place, but it sure could do with a facelift as it is dark and dreary. This is a seaside town and it the restaurant should reflect the surrounding environment.

“Great Place to eat and drink”
Reviewed October 8, 2013

There are some good restaurants in Crescent city but this may be the best. Northwoods has a diverse menu which includes a soup and salad bar. We have enjoyed many of the dishes on the menu and have not been disappointed. One in particular is a unique dish labeled Jerusalem chicken is delicious.
The staff is friendly and attentive. Restaurant enjoys a good location next to the Best Western and across the street from the harbor. It also has a very friendly and popular bar/lounge.

“Average food”
Reviewed September 24, 2013

This restaurant is in the parking lot of the Best Western in Crescent City and appears to be VERY popular with the locals so we were lucky we ordered and were served prior to the local crowd arriving. After that it was difficult to get our waitresses attention to clear the table or bring our check or take our money. It turns out that one of the wait staff was sick the evening we went so that accounted for the service failing at the end altho the waitress was trying her best to serve more than half the restaurant.

A nice surprise was fresh bread, brought warm to the table. Salad bar is adequate. Food was unremarkable and portion size was large. We had a coupon for a free shrimp cocktail, it tasted like the shrimp was frozen vs fresh which was surprising considering the coastal location.

The restaurant is very dark and REALLY NOISY. There was a lot of noise in this restaurant that comes from the bar area as well as a lot of plate rattling from the kitchen. There is no door between the bar and the restaurant and all beverages come from the bar area. We didn't notice when we walked in but after being there for awhile we noticed some things that definitely need some management attention. Cleanliness was less than optimal. I had to remove two plates from the salad stack before I found a clean plate and after I was done eating, I noticed one of the kitchen staff restocking the salad bar, using his fingers to clean between the containers and a towel at his waist to clean the area where you slide your plates UGH. We also noticed that the blinds had a lot of dust on them and that the booths backs were not clean. If we were traveling in the area again, we probably would not return to this restaurant due to this.
