Great throw back Lodge. Large clean rooms. This really takes you back to the Brady Bunch time no frills but great character. For the price it is a great place to stay but do not expect mod cons. The Curly Redwood Lodge is across the road from a Marina so you can enjoy the views.

So, first off.. This is an interesting motel right on 101 just feet from the beach in South Crescent City. It is said to be built from one large old redwood tree, old growth for sure.

The vibe: It is like 1970's LA but not as glamorous.. The rooms are fine but they are a bit spars in furnishings. A bed, a couple of chairs, a lamp, but all like from 1970.

I may sound a bit down on this place, but I think if they spent a few dollars they could really make this place shine and be a lot of fun. The Redwood makes the place for sure and being walking distance to the beach and restaurants, it is in a great location. It just could be better.

Room tip: Park in the front.

This is a very charming and "retro" looking hotel, the rooms sporting a mid-century look. It is rather no-frills (a hairdryer would have been nice), but the rooms are very large, very clean, the reception is very friendly. This is the second time we stayed there, and should we ever be back in Crescent City, we will stay there again. It is very quiet at night, within walking distance of several restaurants and a beach.

We were a little disconcerted to see the lobby sign warning of theft in the parking lot and the second floor breezeway looked a little sketchy, but overall our stay went well. This is definitely a no frills place. No frig. No microwave. No shampoo (unless you ask). No breakfast. Two flat pillows and decor from the 60s-70's. However, if you're just looking for a place to rest your head, our room was spacious. The room was clean. The shower was hot, with good pressure and the road noise eventually fades in the evening offering a peaceful night sleep. It was the cheapest motel we found at the last minute and we would probably stay here again if in the area.

We stayed here 10 years ago and had vague fond memories of the place. Happy to report it lived up to our expectations. Yeah, I would like to see the updates that everyone else mentions but I also kind of want to stay exactly the same. Which it does a good job of doing, down to the rotary phone in the room. Cheap, great location, clean, and a little funky. Recommended
