Nice hotel in a good location. Largeclean rooms. But.....We got a 2 room suite. We were in one room with a king bed and the 3 adult childeren in the room with 2 queens. There was no TV in the childerens room which meant that they watched in our room. TV reception was not great and the WiFi reception was poor. We would stay there again (without the kids) but if the hotel were to place refrigerators in the rooms we would love to stay there again.

Rooms were very clean and the redwoods a neat aspect. For a motel of that timeframe it was overall well kept. Only thing is the beds are older and smaller. Would have been an 'excellent' had the bed been new, soft and an actual queen size.

The other reviews are accurate: the Curly Redwood Lodge is unique (built from a single redwood tree), clean and a step back in time to motels of the early 1970s. There is clearly a lot of pride in ownership: the property is well maintained and clean. While it is basic relative to what many corporate hotels offer today, the price is extremely attractive making this an overall excellent value. Without doubt, I will stay there again.

Opening the door to the room felt like I had stumbled on the set of a 70's motel scene - in a way it was quite fabulous and charming for that reason. But it also smelled like it was a 70's motel room (stuffy, a faint hint of old cigarette lingering two decades later), and the comfort level was 70's era with a small "full-size bed" with an uncomfortable plastic liner underneath the sheets that were not wide enough to tuck under the mattress. Altogether it was quite uncomfortable. The place is unpretentious and for the price, it makes an interesting place to stop for the night if you are not too sensitive to odors. Wifi available, but was slow.

My sister and I called to let the lodge know we would be arriving quite late, and talked to a very helpful employee who was happy to make accommodations for us, which was exactly what we needed after a long day of travel. The lodge itself is very retro and located across the road from a gorgeous marina. Parking is easy with a spot right outside every door for the downstairs units, or in the back if you are staying upstairs. We were pleasantly surprised when we walked into our room because the images on the website do it no justice. The rooms are fairly sparse but quite comfortable and very clean. Ours consisted of a soft double bed, two chairs and a coffee table, a TV, and a fairly large closet. The room was a little chilly when we arrived but the heating system was efficient and heated it up within minutes. The bathroom had a high window that let in natural light, was squeaky clean, and had a roomy, tiled shower. There weren't a whole lot of frills, but that's to be expected when staying at a charming, retro lodge.

The Curly Redwood Lodge would be an excellent place to stay for anyone who doesn't mind a vintage feel, and wants to stick to a very reasonable price range.
