Description: Located just a short distance from the glorious white sand beaches of the Kohala Coast, Kohala Burger and Taco is an affordable and friendly spot with a feel good, nostalgic flair. We serve 100% local grass fed beef and fresh, sustainably caught fish in burgers and tasty tacos. Daily specials, Milk Shakes and kids meals, too! Stop in for an Authentic Dole Pineapple Whip! This tasty Soft Serve Treat was once only available at Disney Parks and at the Dole Plantation on Oahu. KBAT has got it!

I love fresh fish - you're in Hawaii, c'mon man! Yet my wife loves beef, especially burgers. This place does both to perfection. Not only are both meats fresh and delicious, how about fresh made tortillas and bread? The sweetbread rolls for the burgers are insanely good. My mouth is watering thinking about the food.

Plus - Cary, the owner, hustles, is super-friendly. He told us tourist newbies the scoop on many island activities. Great people, great food.

The place is full of locals, what does that tell you?

We were taken here by two locals we know and the food is out of this world. We were promised by own friends the best burgers and this place delivers. I had thr taco salad and it was so tasty. The portions are huge and the service is great. Can't wait to go back on our next visit

Stopped in on a weekday afternoon at this little place on the back side upper level of route 270.
This little shopping court has several restaurants and a black pearl store.
Their address is 61-3665 Akoni Pule Hwy., #13 D.
They serve grass fed island beef and fresh caught Tambo Ahi.
We had the Paniolo Burger that comes with avocado, bacon and cheese. It's served with a fresh baked brioche bun, lettuce, tomato, and shaved red onions.
My BW had the fish taco with Tombo Ahi strips. There's loads of Ahi on this taco. This comes with a flour tortilla, pico, avocado cream sauce, shredded cabbage, and lime squeeze. Two big fish tacos for $11.
A side of papas fritas were also delicious.
Kohala Burger does a brisk carry out business also. There is not a lot of space to sit down,
about four tables.
Mindy is the server and order taker. She did a great job.
A good find away from the high priced hotel food and a lot closer than going to Kona,
Kohala Burger is a welcome addition to the shops in Kawaihae.

This has to be one of the best hole-in-the-wall burger joints in the entire united states...and they don't just sell Burgers! Their island style fish tacos will leave you wanting more! It's a small place but if you get there at the right time you can find easy seating. Staff is super friendly and the Food is even better!

We stumbled upon this burger joint out of the blue on our drive around the northern end of the Big Island. Its small and if you blink you may miss it when driving. So make sure you don't blink because I wouldn't want you to miss out on a delicious, juicy burger! It's very small and gets crowded. If you can get a table, order some food to go and even consider eating in your car. The food is that good. I had a Hula Burger which has grilled pineapple on it. My husband had the Baja Fish Tacos which were also very good.
