“Forget the other Kawaihae Tourist Traps. This Little Gem is the Real Deal”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 18, 2012

OK so we live here full time now for a while but we previously lived in California and New York so we have enjoyed some of the greatest food meccas in the world. Now I'm not comparing Aloha Deli to the culinary marvels of those states but for a little local hole in the wall they put out some pretty tasty fare. Good salads, sandwiches, fish&daily specials are more than enough to keep you coming back. They also serve a nice breakfast which is hard to find in North Kohala. What this place lacks in size is made up in heart and quality. The good value is just an added bonus. Whether you're local or a visitor we highly recommend this hidden wonder.

“Nice people, restaurant just 'ok'”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 6, 2012

We went based on the few reviews here and honestly, If I had it to do again, we wouldn't go. We are 6 ppl, and there was just two other tables there when we stopped for breakfast one morning. They dont make pots of coffee but instead individual cups using a Keurig...not very fast or efficient when you need multiple cups for a few tables. The 'hash browns' were just the frozen shredded type with no seasoning, peppers or onions or anything in them. The couple running it were sweet though. Maybe lunch is better.

“Don't miss this small diner when in the Kawaihae area”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 1, 2012

This place seats only about 12-15 people. Family run M-F, 7a-5p. We shared a pork plate and a teri beef plate. I pigged out by adding pineapple bread pudding with Tropical Dreams coconut ice cream dessert. Everything was excellent including the service.
Lunch items are generous and 8-10 dollars.
Diner is in a 2 story complex north of Spencer Beach and just before the fork inthe road by the harbor.

“The best ono on the Big Island!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 15, 2012

My husband and I stopped into Aloha Deli on our way to the northern part of the Big Island of Hawaii. We had no idea what a hidden gem we were about to find! The restaurant is small and cozy. It's nestled amongst a few other restaurants that are bigger and flashier but my husband and I prefer smaller family run restaurants when given the choice. I got the blackened ono and my husband had fish tacos. The seasoning they use is incredible! I think it might have a hint of curry and a touch of mustard. What ever it is we LOVED it! While we were eating lunch we overheard two other customers tell the waitress it was the best food on the island, so we are not alone on our opinion! Don't be fooled by the paper plates, this place is awesome!
