“The Lunch Wagon is the Best”
Reviewed August 30, 2013

I have never been disappointed in the food at the Lunch Wagon next to Da Fish House. The gal who runs it lives by the rule "If you ain't happy, then I'm not happy" She always has fresh food and changes her menu to give variety. It really doesn't look like much of a place (old bus converted to restaurant), but her tables are always clean and chairs are comfy to sit in. My favorite is mahi mahi with curry sauce, but all fish is yummy and her house salad is great and the crinkle fries are always perfect. She had sweet corn a week ago and she makes this mango flavored ice tea that is so refreshing on any day. All her fish is fresh from Da fish house right next door and the only thing is,you need to go during the week, open M-F I think until 3:30 pm. Prices are great too.

“Both the store and food truck are great!”
Reviewed August 2, 2013

Staying in a Mauna Lani condo for a couple of weeks, this is our go-to place to get fresh fish for grilling. Both the ono and the ahi have been exceptional and so reasonably priced. We tried their shoyu poke and it, too, was delicious. We even picked up some big, juicy home-grown limes for 25 cents each.

Following other suggestions, we shared a two-taco (mahi) plate for lunch. I didn't need more to eat, but know I would have enjoyed it. The picnic tables are nice and shady.

A note to help find this place as there are no signs on the road: entering Kawaihae, take the fork in the road toward "Mahukona" (not toward Kawaihae Harbor) and then the first driveway on the right. It's a yellow and green building across the street from the Kawaihae Center strip mall with parking in front. The food truck's off to the right under some trees. (Google sent us on a wild goose chase.)

“Good Buys on Fresh Fish”
Reviewed July 22, 2013

We enjoyed the fish we bought at Da Fish House. You have choices from the catch brought in that day and if you want to cook it there, an area to is made available.

“Tacos were tasty!”
Reviewed May 19, 2013

We purchased some uber fresh Ono and mahi mahi at Da Fish House store and also tried the tacos and the fresh fish plate (battered) at the adjacent lunch truck. IF you can overlook the grimy patio chairs and tables, IF you can overlook the dilapidated wagon, and IF you can overlook the ants under the tables, you'll enjoy some very tasty tacos and delicious fresh fish. If you can't overlook the atmosphere, you might not enjoy it quite as much. This is not your hip and sleek San Francisco food truck -- it's quite a bit more rustic but overall the food was very good.
