Bob and Mary manage to hit that sweet spot in hospitality - treating you like family but staying out of your way when you want to chill out !

We are a family of five - 3 teenage kids with lots of energy and lots of appetite - our hosts helped us out many times with local suggestions for things to do for the former - saved us lots of time and money - and the latter , well Mary's Hawaiian style breakfast buffet with local Kona coffee gave us all a great start to every day on the Island - the rest was up to us and we had the time of of our lives.

It was also cool to meet different international guests every other day at the breakfast table - lots of interesting travel conversations can be had - or you can just keep to yourself on your private verandah or downstairs common areas.

If you want a place with character, with hosts that are just regular folks that care that you enjoy your stay - this is the B & B for you

We have been during christmas 2013 in this lovingly and bright appointed home. I love this kind of appointing, it remember me at italien Livestile. The breakfast made by Mary was great special and the talks with Bob helpfull as well as funny! ;-) Both are huge hosts and we did enjoy our stay. If we would stay a second time on big Island we would coming to you again. Thank you Mary & Bob and have a HAPPY HEALPHY NEW YEAR! Germany city Leipzig / Christian & Sabine

Mary and Bob are very nice couple. It was lovely to see them. Mary cooks delicious breakfast every morning. They have beautiful garden in the nature & told us lots of useful information: Especially she gave me the best yoga studio !:.

Room Tip: Corner suites are large and sunny.

Adequate room. The real stars here are the gorgeous grounds and wonderful breakfasts with beautiful views and personal family-like service. We also really appreciated all the beach gear available for borrowing.

This B & B is a perfect example of how the innkeeper can make one's stay an experience not to be forgotten. Our room was nice, particularly due to the lanai, which overlooks the setting sun on the Pacific. Just below our porch, 'wild' cows mooed and wild pigs snorted and came curiously to peer through the fence. Gorgeous, lush foliage and fruit trees surrounded us. But meeting and spending time with Mary was by far the highlight of this B & B. Interesting, positive, and generous in her outlook, breakfast was a delicious but also entertaining affair. A wonderful part of any visit to the Big Island!

Room Tip: Our room, 'The Plumeria', was the only one without a 'real' bathroom door, which I d...

My husband and I spent 5 nights at the Hale Ho'ola at the end of October and couldn't have been more content with everything about our visit. Mary and Bob are genuinely hospitable people, down to earth, fun, helpful and friendly. We really enjoyed our time with them. Beds were very comfortable, which is key for us -- my husband's bad back makes us pretty picky about that. We also found it was a location that really suited us. There's lots to explore nearby, good restaurants, historic sites, beaches ... We would love to go back and would definitely recommend Hale Ho'ola.

We loved everything about the Hale Ho'ola. The picture of the front of the bed and breakfast doesn't do justice the beauty of all the tropical vegetation in the front and around Hale Ho'ola. It is just beautiful, so many colors. We arrived after dark the first evening. We were welcomed by a chorus of birds we thought but found out it was tiny frogs. We easily found our room. We found everything we needed. So enjoyed the private lanai with a view of the ocean. Mary and Bob made us all feel so welcome the next morning. We breakfasted on their deck one story up. What a gorgeous view. Breakfast was delicious, just what you would hope for-- local fruit, interesting conversation, tasty food, pleasant company, relaxing environment, and more. The morning we needed to leave before breakfast, Mary provided a delicious packed breakfast. Bob was so knowledgeable about what to see. He even provided maps. Hale Ho'ola was a relaxing and comfortable ending to each day of driving and venturing on the Big Island. We definitely would stay there again.
