We enjoyed the history on the inside, but the grounds outside are a must see. The Chapel area and walking trail which had tributes to Marine conrads and even a horse is worth the walk.

We recommend putting a visit to the National Museum of the Marine Corps at the top of your places-to-visit list in the D.C. area. It is convenient to both Interstate 95 and Route 1 and parking is easy. Don't miss a visit to the Chapel area and the walk around. There are some terrific photo opportunities from that elevation. Inside, be prepared for an enlightening tour through the life of a recruit through major engagements with lifelike figures and accurate recreations. We particularly liked the time travel through WWII and the many facts that were revealed. The Museum is an outstanding tribute to those who served and a great history resource! If you can, plead go.

One of the best museums I've been to in a long time. Interesting and informative. There is so much more to see than I thought. The building and grounds are absolutely beautiful and the staff are all very friendly. I would recommend this place to everyone not just to people with USMC connections.

Another Washington Area FREE museum! If you want to see everything, plan to spend about 8 hours. So much to see, read & hear. If you are present military or a veteran, this is a "must see!" Open seven days.
