I have been here before. It's an very enjoyable experience eating in the replica of Tun Tavern.
Food is excellent and more then what you might expect from a restaurant in a museum. Nice size portions and well priced. Sorry they didn't have the open roast beef sandwich. Burgers with fries are the best. If in the museum and you want a nice sit down meal then go to Tun Tavern.
Wait staff very cordial.

Food was good. Jarhead Red is sold here. It is themed like the Tun tavern from the 1700's in Philadelphia.

We ate lunch and it was really good! I was a little skeptical but I ordered chicken salad on toasted raisin bread, AWSOME, husband had burger, he loved it, and kids chicken nuggets which came with 10 if them. Not bad priced either. Nice to sit in replica of Tun Tavern and have a painting if some very important marines to look at while eating.

Didn't have high expectations from a restaurant in a museum but were we ever surprised. (But then isn't greatness expected from Marines?) Four of us were lucky to get the last available table for lunch at this replica of Tun Tavern where the Marine Corps was first organized in Philly. Loved the atmosphere with the rustic, sturdy furniture. Hubby and I decided to share the grilled turkey panini so we could save room for dessert. What a pleasant surprise when they brought the sandwich out on two separate plates - pewter plates at that - loved that touch. Accompanying fries were also good. Other couple said the Reuben sandwich as well as the grilled chicken were also tasty. Both the bread pudding and apple cobbler were ordered; served in pewter bowls that kept the food nice and hot; we enjoyed both very much.

In addition to the wonderful food and cozy atmosphere, a man dressed in period garb came out to give us a history on the large painting on the wall - an artists rendition of the original gathering at Tun Tavern. To make it interesting the artist included faces of famous Marines; Chesty Puller, John Glenn, etc. This presentation was very much enjoyed by everyone in the restaurant.

If you are in the area, definitely go to the Marine Corp Museum - it is educational, interesting and free. Be sure to stop in at Tun Tavern while there to enjoy some wonderful food.
