First about me - On average I travel weekly both domestically (US) and internationally for business (mainly Europe but also on occasion Asia, South America and South Africa). When travelling on business I look for a hotel in a safe area (i) which is clean (ii) has updated modern rooms (iii) has wireless internet (preferably free); (iv) has breakfast (if hotel does not have a restaurant), and (v) a small gym. In Europe to hit all of the above criteria is difficult - especially to find a hotel which is updated and modern. The Hampton Inn Albuquerque Airport exceeds my expectations.
Rooms are updated, modern and fresh - typical Hampton Inn style - with plenty of lighting to work or read. Rooms have microwave, fridge and coffee maker and access to free internet. Rooms are also very clean - and as a woman I am extremely picky!
Yes rooms are "external" as noted by another review - but I didn't feel this was a draw back and I did not feel unsafe.
Staff are wonderful - helpful, friendly and cheerful.
Breakfast again typical Hampton Inn - cereals, eggs, muffins, bagels, etc - all nicely laid out and fresh.
My only complaint - and this is minor - is that the gym equipment is a bit all. However it is adequate for a decent cardio workout (treadmill, recumbent bike, and cross trainer).
No question - when travelling through Albuquerque, I will stay again.

The one-of-a-kind character of Albuquerque is the result of many different forces, perhaps none as important as the centuries of history that have shaped the city of Albuquerque, New Mexico. Starting with the Native Americans who have lived here for thousands of years and continuing through Albuquerque's official founding in 1706, the city has grown into a multi-cultural metropolis of approximately 840,000 people. While the modern city of Albuquerque is a center of high-tech industry and research, it retains vital connections to the past, such as the ancient rock carvings at Petroglyph National Monument, the historic Old Town Plaza and the trail of vintage neon signs along Route 66 spanning the city. ... more less
