My family and I had dinner at The Council Room. The server was very attentive and the food was delicious. Service was a little slow but the server was very nice.

Not too many nice places are open for Christmas. As part of the Sandia Casino complex The Council Room was not only open, but serving a special Christmas Dinner.

The Sandia Complex has three main dining facilities besides a snack bar. There is the buffet as well as the roof top Bien Shur restaurant. The Council Room had a twenty minute wait to be seated which was alright. It gave us time to settle in. Formerly, there were doors to The Council Room, but now it is open to the lobby. So, although one can be seated toward the back of the restaurant, some of the smoke from the casino wafts into the restaurant and can be sensed by those who are sensitive to smoke. Being a "sovereign nation," Sandia is not subject to laws regarding no smoking in restaurants.

Our waitress was very pleasant and explained things on the menu as we needed. We each had the turkey dinner with tamale, potatoes, and brussel sprouts as well as a spinach salad. The food was delicious and very filling. I thought I had ordered green chile mashed potatoes, but I could not taste or sense any green chile in them. For desert we had Grand Marnier Saboyan which was also very tasty.

I was skeptical about going to a casino for Christmas dinner, but The Council Room was really very nice. I would be happy to go there for Christmas dinner, again, next year.

The only thing that I wish they would change is the opening to the smoke in the casino. Perhaps Sandia can work on that next year.

Super steaks, super service, above average prices, quiet, great decor. Located in the Sandia Resort and Casino on the outskirts of Albuquerque.

Typical pre-fab casino food spiced up with above average plating. The food is filling but tasteless. The price is appropriate for the quality of food. Smoke wafts in from the casino. Service is pathetic and disinterested. Would not eat here again, there are so many better places in Albuquerque.
