My stay was for five nights - attended a national music convention. The room was comfortable - close to convention center - about two blocks. Safe to walk at night. Coffee available early morning in the lobby, not in the room. No ice machine on each floor - had to have room service deliver. Cost to deliver one coke to the room - over $6. Ate all meals but one at another location because the Lucia Restaurant was terribly expensive. A pot of tea was $5. Had to have shampoo refilled, light replaced in bathroom, kleenex box refilled during stay by calling front desk. The staff was great. Very helpful when needed. The restaurant is not a good match for what the hotel needs and the host for Monday, 3/22 was flippant when I questioned a $3 charge for buying a can of coke - didn't mention I would be paying $6 plus on the hotel bill for coke and delivery. He wouldn't let me take it to my room.

The hotel by itself was fine if you aren't used to all the extras. But the restaurant in my opinion is a negative.

Although you can't tell from the outside of the hotel, the decor is modern and the rooms have nice contemporary furnishings. We had an Andaluz King room with separate sitting area with couch, chair and table. Large flat screen on the wall could be adjusted for viewing from anywhere. 1 bathroom had toilet and sink. the other had modern shower, tub and sink. The rate was very reasonable even though the Andaluz King is an upgrade. The lobby is unique. It has expansive comfortable seating and has good food and drink service. They also have good live music on certain nights. We were glad to skip the Hyatt and go with this very nice hotel.

The historical Hotel Andaluz has an excellent downtown Albuquerque location and was just stylishly renovated from lobby-to-room. To their credit the renovation incuding green building practices and results (LEED). This was an early Conrad Hilton Hotel, called La Posada, where we've stayed in the past, and the renovation updates the hotel to an elegant trendiness while retaining the historical core. Rooms are reasonably priced given the quality of the renovation and location, and there are specials to be had. The restaurant serves fine food and is an attractive space. Both hotel and restaurant are a rare value and treat for the biggest NM city, which is often shadowed by Santa Fe to the north. Our only complaint is that, since the Hotel is laudably advertising green goals, the restaurant could focus more on organic, sustainable and local fare, and especially correct the mildly deceiving "Wild Atlantic Salmon" item on the menu, since the wild stocks were decimated years ago and all commercial Atlantic salmon served in the U.S. is aquafarmed.

We enjoyed one night in the Andaluz Hotel, located in the heart of Downtown Albuquerque. The hotel is easy to find. The hotel is listed in the National Register of Historic Buildings, as it was one of the first 3 hotels built by Conrad Hilton in the 1930s.

Our reservation was made through Orbitz and prepaid.

Check in is in a side room, located just off the main lobby. The check in process is very fast and the staff friendly and helpful.

Self park is available, but we opted for valet parking at $16/day.

The hotel has been completely renovated and rivals luxury hotels priced much higher than the Andaluz. Usually, renovated old hotel means small rooms with many compromises. However, our room was spacious, immaculately clean, and well appointed. Everything worked and there were thoughtful extras, like his and hers slippers.

Our view of the Sandia Mountains was spectacular. We also enjoyed the free wi fi internet service.

As our stay was on a Saturday night, the hotel has scheduled salsa music, bar service (no host), and dancing in the lobby from 9 pm to midnight. We really enjoyed listening to the music and soaking up some of the local culture. Also, the hotel seems to be on the “cruising” course for the local boys and girls on Saturday nights, and we were delighted to see real low riders in action just in front of the hotel. The only downside was some of the mega base cruisers were a bit loud and could be heard from our 9th floor room. It reminded us of American Graffiti with an Albuquerque flair.

Overall, we loved the Andaluz and will go back again in the future. The hotel offers a luxury experience at a competitive price. The hotel also gives both the business and vacation visitor a charming flavor of the local Albuquerque culture, which separates the Andaluz from its cookie-cutter chain hotel competitors nearby.

Andaluz deserves to be the No. 1 rated hotel in Albuquerque. Go and enjoy it.

My husband booked a room at the Andaluz as a birthday surprise to me! We had a wonderful night there. Room service was prompt and curtious and the food wasn't too shabby either. Each employee we spoke to was polite & willing to help resolve anything we needed help with!
