“What a gem!”
Reviewed November 30, 2011

My husband and I were doing a road trip from NM to CO for Thanksgiving - flying in to Albuquerque late. I found this hotel on line and could not have been more pleased. The decor, service and location were perfect. It is a little escape once you step inside. We stayed in the Asian King which had attention to detail we appreciated. The rates were great too! Highly recommended.

We were pleasantly surprised with the Andaluz. The staff is superior, the hotel is historic, but the rooms and facilities are modern, functional, and very comfortable. The bathroom had 2 sinks which we really enjoy, a glass enclosed shower we always prefer over a curtain, a very comfortable bed with a menu of pillows, windows that open (albeit just 4 inches), all in a great location-- we walked to and from Old Town -- about 4 miles roundtrip. There is free wireless throughout the hotel and the rates are more than fair. We could not find anything to fault about this hotel.

Thank you so much for your comments and observations. We are thrilled to hear that your stay was comfortable. The owner of the hotel went to great lengths in providing an atmosphere of a home as opposed to a "typical" hotel ambiance. We look forward to your next visit and your return to the Land of Enchantment.

My wife and I and another couple spent Saturday night at this hotel and it was beautiful. It is a blend of a gorgeous old Spanish-style hotel (one of Conrad Hilton's first hotels), and contemporary elegance throughout. The architecture is definitely old-Spanish, but the interior designer did a spectacular job bringing in contemporary touches throughout the hotel. We had a King Suite, 1005, on the 10th floor. The room was very large, comfortable, and perfect for that romantic getaway. We had appetizers late at night at the bar on the 2nd floor terrace, and they were delicious. Don't bother looking for a place to eat anywhere else - the hotel restaurant Lucia is very good and reasonably priced. Highly recommend it. Check out the pics I took.

Room Tip: The King Suite rooms are more expensive than the Queen rooms, but are much, much larger. Our friend...

Every year around Christmas time my boyfriend and I stay at Andaluz. I look forward to it all year! The hotel is gorgeous, and the staff has always been so kind to us. Usually when we stay here, we start the night at the River of Lights (another great Albuquerque attraction!), and then we get some drinks at the rooftop bar before heading to our beautiful room.
Breakfast at Lucia is a bit more affordable than dinner, but just as delicious. I recommend the apple pancakes.
Andaluz is a great place to bring a special someone. Who knows? Maybe if things go REALLY well, one day you might even have a wedding here! :)

Room Tip: I booked the Premier King, and it is spacious and extremely comfortable.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We attended a wedding at the hotel that was truly memorable. The location is ideal: just minutes from the airport and in a great, very clean and walkable area (great Jazz club around the corner) The convention center only a few blocks away. The Andaluz has a crackerjack staff and the hotel leaves no detail unaddressed. It reflects obvious talented thought in its execution, melding the best of its old world charm with all the modern conveniences. We found it very inviting, the rooms very comfortable and the restaurant Lucia a good value and delicious. Loved the library, cozy bar and again, the staff is superb. Bravo!

The Hotel Andaluz is a beautiful old hotel located in downtown Albuquerque, within a block of the convention center. The property is stunning yet comfortable and not stuffy in the least. The staff is friendly, yet not overly so...reserved may be a good description. My room was very small, but again very beautiful and comfortable. I understand that there are larger rooms so if spreading out a bit is important, you might want to ask ahead.

The hotel restaurant, Lucia, is wonderful and not to be missed.

As other reviewers have mentioned, in-room coffee makers are by request. I had to ask three times, but one was eventually brought up and the coffee was stellar!

My only real complaint was the shower. The water takes forever to warm up (wasteful in my book) and the pressure in the shower is just plain weird...sort of hard but sprayed all over the place. Being a green hotel is good, but there are low pressure shower heads that direct the water onto me and not all over the tub. :)

Room Tip: Ask for a larger room if you like to spread out. Mine was tiny, but fine for me!

Thank you for your comments and observations. I am thrilled that you found the hotel to be beautiful yet not stuffy. The main idea behind the renovation was to incorporate design with comfort and warmth. I was also happy to hear about your experience in Lucia.
I must say I was a bit disappointed to hear that your requests were not quickly completed. I would love to hear from you to find out which room you were in so I can have our engineering department check the water pressure.
Thank you again for your comments and we truly look forward to your next stay with is.

We spent two nights here in October. The room was huge, with a king bed, large windows which actually open, couch, chair, desk, table, etc. Separate bathroom with adjoining room containing double sinks, closet, safe. All outlets were on top pf the desk and on top of the bedside table...genius! Free wi-fi in the room, a great onsite restaurant, and friendly, helpful employees. The hotel is downtown rather than in Old Town, but there is a bus that runs right by the door every 15 minutes and goes to all the major attractions. The rooftop lounge complete with fireplace is a great place to unwind at the end of the day. We would definitely stay there again.

I was so happy to read your review and to see your comments. There was a lot of thought put into the room and the functionality, from the drawers that don't slam shut to the outlets readily available on the desktop. Thank you again and we look forward to your return visit.
