“Great service, very tasteful hotel”
Reviewed January 17, 2006

My two night stay at the Hyatt in Albuquerque was excellent. The service was some of the best I have ever encountered in the US. The room was tastefully decorated and the location was just right. True, there isn't much to do in downtown ALBQ, however, it is close to restaurants and bars, etc.

Upon check in, I was given a room upgrade simply because I asked. Also, the concierge helped us out with some trip coordinations and went to Starbucks and bought us a coffee on the house. Also, the rooms were very large and comfortable.

If I am to nitpick, I would agree that this is a 4 star hotel (out of 5), but, I would give it a 4- because the room I was in showed ever so slight wear and tear. Hardly noticeable, but, you can see that it isn't brand spankin new. It wasn't a factor as I loved my stay there and hightly recommend it.

I was wisked here for a romantic weekend. We had dinner at McGrath's and then went walking around downtown. Afterwards off to the Hot tub which sits up high above the city.

Will be going back this weekend for a repeat performance.

I was surprised to see the number of bad reviews for the Albuquerque Hyatt. I live in nearby Santa Fe, and have stayed there many times over the years (mostly on business), and have never had a bad experience. While it is part of an upper-end chain (and therefore a bit bland), the rooms have always been clean and spacious(with in-room pay per view movies), the service (including room service) fine and the staff helpful. The pool and the gym are nice, and McGraths serves very decent (if not de luxe) food. Downtown Abq. does tend to shut down early, but that is slowly changing with more restaurants and nightlife on Central and Gold Streets, and there is a 14-screen theater within walking distance of the Hyatt. All in all, I don't know of a better place to stay in Albuquerque.
