“Clean enough, but smelly and dingy looking”
Reviewed October 19, 2012

We were there for the annual Balloon Fiesta. We booked our room just a few weeks before the event and were lucky to find anything available. Although we asked for a non-smoking room, the room smelled of stale cigarettes and although actually very clean, it just looked old and dingy. Sleep quality may not have been too bad except for the barking dogs in the next room that kept us up for a good part of our second night. We had a refrigerator, but the space for the microwave was empty. and the free breakfast was pretty sparse compared to other Days Inns we've stayed at. Overall, the place was probably pretty average for a mid to lower end motel, but certainly not up to the Days Inn standard we've become used to. Although we felt safe, even with the outside entrance, we will probably not use this hotel again.

Thank you for taking time to share your experience. Unless your room backed up to a smoking room, which may have allowed some smoke vapors to pass through the walls, I can think of no reason to justify a smoke smell in a non-smoking room. During the Balloon Fiesta we checked each room, deodorizing any that had an unpleasant smell, and even using an ozone machine to remove as much of the smoke residue in the air as we could in the smoking rooms as we realized some guests would be in them who would have preferred non-smoking, but could not be moved due to the selling out of the yearly event. The refridgerator is a standard amenity that we provide in all guest rooms, microwaves are available upon request with your reservation or at check-in. They are limited, but one is always available in the lobby 24 hours a day in the event we are not able to provide one in your guest room.

I had reservations for a 2 bed room, but found out during check in I was bumped from that to a room with 1 bed and a pull out sofa. I still had to pay the same rate which was not to my satisfaction. The pullout sofa was so uncomfortable. The sheets on the bed were dirty and there were cock roaches in the bathroom.

Thank you for taking time to share your experience. I apologize that your stay was anything less than your highest expectations. These reviews are completely anonymous, but I am 99% sure I know this booking. We run into this all the time during special events with 3rd party reservations. They allow them to push through even though it shows we have no inventory in the room type requested, but do they care about the hassle it will cause the hotel, no. Do they care that our mutual guest won't get what they assume they just booked, no. If it wasn't for the fact that a guest of ours was unable to make their trip and a room opened up, I would not have been able to fix the overbooking they caused. As far as roaches, it is an unfortunate and unappealing problem we have in this arid climate. We have the property professionally sprayed on a monthly basis, and call in for spot spraying if we are getting specific complaints in a certain area of the property. But sometimes they still make it into guest rooms and is not pleasant for anyone.

The security glass in front of the front desk should be your first clue that this place is only a little better than prison. The room was small, dark, dirty, with holes in walls and shower surround. The door had to be forced open.. Wallpaper was peeling, toilet seat wasn't fastened on toilet. The staff all seemed like they were on work release and didn't even pretend to care about customer service. The free wifi only works if you are within 5 feet of the front window (so you can't sit on the bed and get wifi. The connection was so slow it was almost unusable. Expect to be kept awake by all the noise but after you do drift to sleep you will be awakened by what sounds like a freight train but turns out to be the pipes hammering whenever anyone within 3 rooms from you decides to shower (starting about 5am). Anyone that gave this place more than 1 star was way too generous.
