“OK compared to others in Old Town”
Reviewed August 19, 2013

We were disappointed that this Best Western did not have a complementary breakfast nor a microwave in the room. That said, for the Old Town area, we would have considered it a bargain if it did have these two amenities. The room was clean and well decorated, however, we could hear noise from the adjacent room. The staff was helpful and cheerful. So all in all more positive then negative

I'm glad you enjoyed your stay with us and especially enjoyed the staff. We enjoy working here. We do have microwaves available on request and micro-fridges in every room. I'm pretty sure we want to provide good value but if we're too much of a bargain then nobody would stay at the other hotels in Albuquerque and our cheerful staff will never get a day off. That's not good for anybody.

Our stay was fine. Not sure I would stay here again for the simple fact I would want to try sonewhere else.

Impressions:
Location is great access to Old Town but I wouldn't walk aa area is a touch seedy
Outdoor pool was fine but slippery patches were they painted the concrete
Restaurant on site but just fair
Rooms are ok. Not super nice and not terribly dirty or beat up. Bathrooms need updating.
Liked satellite tv for kids
Liked adjoining rooms and no pets
Free business center

We like fancier hotels and if you do too this might not be for you.

Thank you for taking the time and writing a review. If you have the money, the Hotel Albuquerque at Old Town is a tad fancier than us. Just a tad.

Hotel was extremely clean with a great staff. Only 2 tenths of a mile from Old Towne. Would definitely stay here again. Great breakfast too. The rooms were spacious and very clean. Staff went out of their way to be helpful.

This property located just west of Albuquerque on the interstate is a great place to stop for the night if you are traveling through. Located just feet from the freeway, you have easy egress and access but our room was perfectly quiet.

I stayed here for a week while attending a conference in July, 2013, and was very happy with the hotel. It cost a fraction of the price it would've cost to stay downtown (where the conference was), yet it was alot nicer than some of those more-expensive downtown hotels. I was ecstatic to find upon my arrival that the hotel offered a shuttle from early in the morning until after 9pm to/from most places anyone would want to go (including airport), and when I wanted to return later, cab rides from downtown were only about $10. The room was nothing fancy but clean and comfortable, the elevators were funky & fit the western decor of the establishment, internet access and boarding pass printing was available on several computers, and Starbucks coffee was available in the lobby each morning. I didn't take advantage of the pool or $5 breakfast, but both seemed nice & frequently used. Best of all, the staff were ultra-friendly and genuinely seemed to take pride in their hotel & work. They all remembered me and didn't miss an opportunity to say "hi." The housekeeping staff were all smiles all the time. Over the course of the week, I was "chauffeured" in the shuttle by several employees, and each was super friendly and lots of fun to talk to. I'll never stay anywhere else in Albuquerque, and I feel for the suckers who chose to stay downtown for at least 50% more $$ than I payed.

We arrived in the evening; rather than having to go find food, there was restaurant right there so we were able to eat as soon as we checked in. Great when one has a tired, hungry kid.

Dave, Kelly, and Dee Dee helped us with information that saved me time and money on this 4-night stay. Example: we were going to the aquarium; Dee Dee suggested that I get the ticket for all three places which would include the train ride from aquarium to zoo and back to botanical garden. She was right. Dave shuttled us over to the Bio Park and picked us up that afternoon which allowed me to relax and enjoy the ride.

BREAKFAST on the premises for $5 each! A menu of about 7 items so we were not eating the same things every day. Imagine a family of five having breakfast for $25.

Location was wonderful; we had a 4th floor room with a view of the mountains. AND for a fancy dinner, the St. Clair Bistro is right across the parking lot.

The shuttle service is a great help to avoid the ALB traffic. And it is an on demand service up to 9 or 10 p.m.

Thank you for taking time to write a review and for the kind words regarding Dee, Kelly and Dave. That is the second review on this site about Dave in the past couple of days. I will make sure and let him know his effort is appreciated. I'm glad you were able to enjoy all the attractions in our neighborhood and save a little bit of money as well. There is a ton of things to do in Albuquerque and in Old Town.

We stayed one night after multiple stays in 2 star motels, I'm very glad we paid a bit extra to stay at the Rio Grande Inn. The place was nicely decorated, very clean, and the staff were warm and welcoming. Pool area was well maintained and surrounded by greenery. Right next to the freeway (though you would never know it) and very close to old town, which is a much better location for basing yourself in Albuquerque than staying in down town. We had dinner and breakfast in the restaurant onsite and really enjoyed the service and our meals. Fitness centre is also well equipped.
