Golden Crown is a quaint, funky, welcoming little cafe with extremely friendly and helpful workers. Their bakery items are fab-u-lous!!! Their bizcochitos are a must-have when in Albuquerque.

Any place rated this highly is worth a visit. We were greeted by a friendly guy behind the counter, who offered us each a free cookie, the NM specialty biscochita. It was nice but nothing special. The friendliness continued as he helped us order lunch. We had a pumpkin empenada and a pizza, along with cappuccinos. All very nice, but again, nothing really special. Except the pizza crust, which had green chili. It was a beautiful day to sit outside and nobody was smoking. Good thing - there are only a few tables inside.

All in all, quite pleasant, but #2 in ABQ? I don't think so.

We saw this place on the cooking channel and noticed Guy had made a visit there. They are highly rated in Albuquerque as one of the best places to eat pizza and pastries. Needless to say, my wife and I were amazed at the taste of the food there. This is how pizza should taste ! The sweets were delicious as well. We can see why tourists go by to visit and sample the fine food. Don't leave Albuquerque without stopping by Golden Crown Bakery folks.

We had lunch at the Golden Crown after reading the Trip Advisor reviews, and it lived up to the best of them! The employees were friendly and the service was great. I loved seeing all of the fresh baked bolillos and empanadas. We tasted the New Mexico state cookie while we were there - biscochitos - which have an amazing flavor combination of anise and cinnamon. Overall, we were very impressed with Golden Crown. It's a must-visit if you're in Old Town.
