“Excellent organization of our trip”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 7, 2014

Recently took a group of 16 golfers for a trip to New Mexico and organized it through the Sandia reservations desk. Britni Lujan and her entire team helped make our trip extremely enjoyable.
The food was great, the rates were very fair and the ease of our group to play golf and get around made the trip a great success.
Many thanks again to the entire team for a great experience

My husband had a two-day seminar so we decided to book at the resort.

1.) we dined at both the buffet (breakfast) and the restaurant for dinner. Food was ok, service good but a little overpriced.

2.) they did accommodate an early check in (12 noon)

3.) didn't realize you aren't allowed to leave your kids alone in the room, even if they are 16. They can't go to the pool alone either, so that eliminated my option to go grab a coffee or partake of any of the spa options

4.) they would not accommodate a late check out. They did not have a shuttle service to the mall. This left us with no ride and nothing to do from 11:30 (check out) to 4:00 (end of my husbands seminar). I had to go store our luggage in my husbands company truck and call a cab (about 50 bucks) to take us the the mall until my husband could get out & come get us.

The only offer they made was for us to rent another night (over 200.00 dollars), knowing we would be leaving at 4:00.

I felt very unwelcome at this "resort". The rooms were no better than a hilton or Hampton - the bath was bigger, but for the difference in price I would rather stay with a friendlier place. The amenities are overpriced and they offer nothing that a regular chain doesn't offer. This would be the place to stay if you are alone and just wanting to golf or go to the casino.

My review is a few months late since I've been traveling quite a bit, but I always thoroughly enjoy my stay at Sandia when I am in Albuquerque. The staff is knowledgable, happy, helpful, the room are extraordinarily clean and nicely luxurious and comfy and the bathrooms are wonderfully large with a walk-in shower and soft towels. Great views from most rooms, buffet is okay, the Cafe MUCH better, the Bien Shur Restaurant is worth a visit, great food, great atmosphere. And I love the Casino which is friendly and comfortable with great snack station for quick, cheap (but good) eats. Also self serve soda, coffee, (decadently delicious) hot chocolate bars throughout. A must visit when I'm in Albuquerque.

First let me say that I like this hotel and casino, but I do think that they have too many rules. The rooms are very comfortable and roomy, and the bathroom is roomy too with a tub and separate shower. Buffet is always crowded but I don't think its that good, but they offer a lot of specials for seniors so that brings in the business. If you go to the spa on senior day (Wednesday) you get 30% off...that's a huge discount. What I don't like is that they want you to sign a waiver stating you won't bring any liquor into the hotel for your room. They want you to pay outrageous prices and get it from them. There is only one place you can drink and that is in the bar at the back of the casino. You can't even buy a drink there and take it to the casino with you. Even though I don't play golf, they have a beautiful course. The views of the mountains from your room is also beautiful. The steakhouse at the top of the hotel is OK...great service but nothing spectacular for the food. I've eaten better places and I've eaten worse places. The Council room (their coffee shop) is good but not a huge selection. If you hit a substantial amount (on slot machines) while playing a bonus round it doesn't add your win onto your machines' credits, but instead you have to wait for someone to come over and hand pay you that amount. That's a waste of time.

The bathrooms are spacious, seperate shower and bath, toilet not right next to them. The rooms are good size. Their internet connection is sometimes very slow. Room service and housekeeping can sometimes be a problem.

Bien Shur stake and lobster was not as good as I thought it would be. The dinner plus glass of wine cost me about a $100. The taste of the lobster wasn't good, I couldn't figure out what it was but it did have a slimey back. The wine suggestion was good.

Several places to eat, but you should know operating hours and do not wait till the last minute. They won't make any exceptions. Whole and slice pizzas at the Kowira grill and slice pizza at the buffet.

I never have been to the pool. I used the spa. There are some problems here. The staff is good, but don't enforce the pool use rules. There is loud talking, phone use, people not showering before jumping into the hot/cold tub. They are building another spa at the golf clubhouse.

I have heard people complain of unfriendly or ruff security guards. Sometimes I noticed some of the guards will get over zealous and come across as unfriendly.

The slots are like most places. They have an enclosed, large, non-smoking slot room. Cigarette price per pack is high, Get them at the travel center across the road before getting to the casino. They cost less there.

There is underground parking but limited. They are building an additional covered parking structure. There is a large outdoor parking place for RVs as well as for cars and trucks. Covered valet parking, I have never used it.

There is an outdoor concert amphitheater. It is nice.

Room Tip: There are two sides of the hotel building. The east side you can see the Sandia and part of the Monz...

Courteous and friendly staff. Doesn't make any difference if the rooms are complimentary or you have paid for them. The staff is great. Rooms are beautiful, clean and food at hotel restaurants are wonderful. The view of the mountains is breathtaking. Love this place.

Great golf course....easy on and off the freeway if you are visiting Santa Fe...if you plan to use spa or hair salon book ahead..Friday night buffet is great but long line..rooms are lovely...hosts in casino couldn't be nicer but if you aren't a regular customer meaning at least monthly don't expect anything more than a free one night stay...you will get a room but you will pay after that one night...and no free food...even if you are a decent player...The valet is great and well informed for any side trips, shopping or special events...check this resort for balloon festival..great location and parking for RVs...fast food restaurant in rear corner is excellent and cheap...lots of green chili on anything! Great selection of slot machines

Room Tip: Book rooms with balcony facing mountains...some rooms have no view and even a wall so booking is imp...
