For the novice balloon lover through the seasoned lighter than air pilot this is a must do place. A wonderful and informative lead up history to modern balloon flight with great actual air ships and balloons to see up close. It gives the visitor a good sense of what ballooning is all about as well as it's history from the first "smoke powered" balloons. "The winds will welcome you with softness" as the balloonist's prayer of thanks begins...

We visited the museum after taking a hot air balloon ride with Rainbow Ryders. It wasn’t a huge museum, but definitely had some interesting things to look at. My kids enjoyed navigating the fake hot air balloon, although, an older man who worked there kicked us out because he wanted to show a group of people there how it worked. We thought this was really rude since we had waited in line a long time to finally get our turn, but that was the only negative thing about the place. If they had more hands on gadgets for kids (and adults) to get into, that would definitely be great, but for what it’s worth, it’s a cute little museum. They had lots of little knick knacks and historical tidbits about hot air ballooning and it was very interesting to see all the history that ballooning had. It didn’t take long to go through the whole museum, so you can squeeze this in with other nearby attractions. I think we were maybe there about an hour or two.

I loved that they covered the early history of ballooning. Romanticized quite a bit, but still interesting to learn about. I wish that their hand's on kids (and adults) area was larger. I liked that they featured local artists works in their gift shop at prices we could afford. Would like to see more locally or US made items in their gift shop.

The balloon museum is one of those that is more interesting and enjoyable than you thought it would be. Visitors are always surprised at how much they appreciated going. The museum will take only about 2 hours to enjoy. The displays are impressive. The building is really impressive. Good for all ages.

A fund raiser for the museum but you get a small picnic, shade, chairs, air conditioning (if you want to step inside) and nice bathrooms. And waiting for fireworks on July 4 can be dull. Here you have a museum to wander through and Lots of activities for kids. We chatted with a 94 year old WWII veteran. It was nice and the museum is a treasure.
