“Small but interesting museum”
Reviewed March 21, 2011

This is worth the time to find...actually just iniside the campus at MLK. It is free and they allow non-flash photography. I was the only visitor at the time but it was Spring break...maybe it's busier other days. I had no trouble parking. Generally there were three exhibit areas. Southwest archealogy is a major focus. Physical anthropology of early man has a smaller exhibit but it does a good job of showing differences in the early human evolution. There was a special exhibit on Mayan weaving that was very good. They also have a small gift and book shop.

“Nice place if you can get there.”
Reviewed October 29, 2009

The Maxwell Museum is a well designed musuem. The exhibits and artifacts are well chosen. Not worth the effort to find it. Absolutely NO signs to tell you where it is. It is located in the middle of the Univ. of New Mexico campus. There is no sign, no parking anywhere nearby, and no one to ask. If you find a parking place in walking distance, the Parking Citation group will be there at the minute the meter expires to give you a ticket. Not worth the aggrievation. They ought to be ashamed of themselves.
