“Wonderful location for Speed Skating Nationals”

Albuquerque Convention Center
Reviewed July 23, 2013

It was a great venue for speed skating nationals in 2013! We stayed at a hotel in walking distance, so this was great. The only thing that could have been better was the selection for food. They did serve lunch, but the lunch consisted of things that most athletes don't care for, such as nachos and hot dogs. No healthy options, and the food was really expensive.

Came to the inaugural Southwest Book Fiesta (quickly dubbed Fiasco)

Having participated in many conventions over the years, the first thing we noticed was the bare cement floors rather than the typical carpeting. This resulted in a wonderful echo when speakers in the stage made their under attended presentations.

The bathrooms had a recent but very sloppy paint job.

You are a captive audience when it comes to food if you want to spend a few hours in the exhibit hall. The selection is limited, salty and not served at the appropriate temperature.

I have only been to a few convention centers, but I really did not like this one. It was really confusing to navigate because there are two buildings, and several floors in each building. I was lost the whole time.

The food that they served was not that appetizing.

The bathrooms were really gross, and there are not enough stalls.

It is also an ugly building.

There is a lot of the natural sunshine light of NM coming into the building, and that is lovely. There were also a lot of different sized rooms which was good for breakout groups.

The location is really great. It is right in the middle of town and there are a lot of hotels, food, and entertainment around.

This was the third time I officiated for an indoor track and field meet at the convention center. On all three occasions the staff was great and the venue was clean and neat. I will be going back again next year and look forward to it. It is right by the hotels and within walking distance of Central Avenue (aka Historic Route 66).
