Our Zoo is working on-it! The up-grades must be made and we understand that; however, the overall effort to ensure that the visitors are better routed through the Zoo needs to be addressed, along with habitat "under repair".
Signage is really very poor in most of the habitats and along many of the walks. Money, money, and of course money is a budget-killer! As the Zoo gets-on with better times, it's likely the critique will be more towards "curing" the ills. Come see it, anyway, 'cause the amenities are still very well thought out. Shucks, it's less expensive that other cities of 300-600 thousand population. For us, the best thing is hearing the kids squeal with delight when they see animals "up close".

The zoo has a great collection of all the animals you would expect to see in a zoo. The animal habitats are great and offer good viewing. Best thing is, the ground is fairly flat and the zoo is compact enough to do easily in an afternoon-even with strollers, small kids our wheelchairs. The food is only fair and high priced. The Zoo is a bargain!

The zoo had lots of neat attractions. The kids really enjoyed it and I was astounded at how affordable it was. It cost under $40 to get a family of 5 in. That is excellent. The feed was mediocre but I dont really think we expected it to be a 5 star meal. Gift shops have a lot of selection and we had a great time.

Wonderful gardens + animals - large cats, smaller cats, Meerkats- birds, Sea lions and more. Great way to spend the day and a good value too.

We bought a combo ticket to the Zoo, Botanic Garden and Auqarium the day we were rained out of the balloon fiesta. Was an excellent day, loved the very active Polar Bears. The Zoo is quite large, spent more than have the time there. Thre is a train that takes you to the Botanic Garden, but the train we were on derailed and the wheels broke off in the car behind ours. No one was hurt, but we had to drive to the Botanic Gardens from the Zoo.

The Botanic Garden was much larger than I expected. Numerous gardens, lots of walking paths. Be prepard for a long walk. Also had a nice butterfly exhibit at no extra charge. Our visit was cut short because it rained and we needed to scramble back.

Aquarium was the weakest part to the trio. Had some interesting fish and frogs. You will not need too much more than 30 minutes to walk throgh this.
