Description: We created Flying Star because we needed fresh, tasty coffee served in a bottomless cup, comfy seats with casual, competent service that didn’t get in your face. Most of all, we wanted a place where dessert was first and the food was something you could really get your taste buds around. And, we needed it served from early in the morning to late at night on every day of the year except Thanksgiving and Christmas. It would be a place where we could go to be alone or have a good chance of running into friends. That was 1987 and we’re still cooking and baking 24 years later.

I chose the Greek Goddess salad, costs a little more than the other salads but well worth it. Great atmosphere. Parking is a bit of a challenge but not impossible; don't forget parking in the back. Perfect breakfast/lunch stop for Nob Hill shopping. Very happy with this first visit and next time will combine it with the funky Nob Hill shopping experience. They do have a community room to rent for meetings.

Huge salads composed of locally-grown ingredients in a laid-back setting. Did not try the extensive selection of desserts, but they looked wonderful.

The food here is excellent. A great menu with lots of options. There are great healthy options and great comfort food options. This is a popular place, so you should expect to stand in line during peak periods and you may have to work to find a table. There are tons of desserts to tempt you, tho they tend to be a little pricey. The southwest bennie is a personal favorite and the fish tacos are excellent (tho not the biggest meal). A great place to hang, study, socialize, indulge. Free wifi but you need to set up an account and log in.

Nothing too exciting about a $10 breakfast burrito filled mostly with potatoes.

It's a chain with no great claim to anything other than taking advantage of a college town transient atmosphere with high priced mediocrity as it's specialty.
