“TOO SPICY FOR ME!”
Reviewed October 22, 2012

Went with our family of 5. Was ready for a big plate of enchiladas, but that didn't happen. Their sauce choices were either red chili (basically fire in your mouth) or green (not quite as hot fire). I asked for samples to see what I was going to be getting into. They were both inedible by someone like me who doesn't do spice at all. After ruling that out, I decided on a chimichanga, but that included the chili sauce as well. I said FINE just some nachos, but those had green chili cheese (more fire). I opted for just a plain taco. Very disappointed. My kids ordered the ribs since those aren't spicy.

“Spicy!!”
Reviewed September 2, 2012

This is the real deal when it comes to mexican cuisine. Authentic to the core. You have to enjoy the heat, everything is spicy. If you don't like hot mexican food, this is not for you. But if you do, this is the best. Family owned and operated. Everything is made from scratch using grandma's recipies. This is my favorite so far in Albuquerque.

“great food!”
Reviewed August 13, 2012

Really good Mexican food, a coy pond and quiet, live music. Perfect spot to land after a day of sightseeing.

“Great red and green chile.”
Reviewed July 22, 2012 via mobile

This is the best New Mexican style restaurant. Not only were the red and green chiles hot, they were flavorful. The atmosphere was nice and I will definitely be back.

“Great Mexican / New Mexican Food on 4th South of Paseo”
Reviewed June 13, 2012

This is very good Mexican / New Mexican restaurant on Fourth street about 2 blocks south of Paseo Del Norte. It is less expensive and less touristy than El Pinto. The food is spicier than your typical Albuquerque Mexican place. I had the Benavidez Steak with a relleno. The steak was perfect, the relleno was average. I would definitely get the steak again. My dining partners had the tamales and the chicken enchiladas. The tamales were filled with carne adovada which was rated as spicy and the tamales were given a thumbs up. The chicken enchiladas were also rated as spicy and with a thumbs up.
