“Excellent pizza”
Reviewed August 25, 2013

I have to say I was expecting a traditional pizza restaurant, and was a little disappointed to find you order and pay upon arrival, then take a seat.
Some starters added to the menu would be nice.
The pizza was fantastic, as was the service. Lack of starters or desserts did leave us a little hungry still.
Would definitely return though.

“Insalate Pescatore was really Zuppa Pescatore?”
Reviewed August 19, 2013

Have you ever had one of those 12-hour days? Tired, hungry because you have not had time for proper nourishment. Because you never cook (who's got the time?) you pick up up 3 Insalate Pescatore at the Heights Il Vicino (montgomery & Juan Tabo), and you open up your salad and the tuna is really a soup. It is not even close to the once appetizing and real tuna salads that you come to appreciate (for 8.50 and fitting in a medium sized box, wouldn't you expect more than a bit of tuna in a half cup of mayo???). But wait! Here's the kicker! Calling and telling Alison, the manager that Insalate Pescatore is a soup and she becomes defensive, is simply the icing on the cake. Do i want to go back to the restaurant to be "compensated"? are you kidding me? How about simply apologizing profusely that their Insalate Pescatore was really Zuppa Pescatore? Such an inadequate response by Alison. When I went to post on Trip Advsor, there was not an Il Vicino Heights that was acknowledged - has this been sold to someone else? is that the reason for the poor quality and poor customer relations? Well, I'm done w/ Il Vicino. Everyone go next door to Zorba's or down the street to Flamez, where quality really matters.

“decent pizza, fast service, pleasant atmosphere”
Reviewed August 12, 2013

The usual range of choice for this chain: tasty and well-cooked pizza washed down with good local beer, fast service with a friendly manner, and a pleasant place to linger.

This was my first time and it was exactly what I was hoping for. Quick, just order at bar Sat down and service was excellent, refills on the house. Pizza and Salad was very good and reasonably priced....will go back.

“no big deal anymore”
Reviewed July 23, 2013

Il Vicino has slowly been increasing the numbers of restaurants to make it a small regional chain. That would be great to me if the food was still worth stopping in for. Nothing is bad, but nothing is special anymore. You probably won't hate your pizza, but don't expect Napoli-style wood-fired pizza. The menu doesn't seem to have changed much over the year, so I don't know why the crust no longer seems to be able to handle the toppings. If I wanted something soggy, I'd get my pizza from the freezer section.
