Review of Nob Hill

Nob Hill
Ranked #43 of 227 things to do in Albuquerque
Attraction details
Reviewed April 11, 2013

Albuquerque is not a pedestrian city, but this part of town is. You can wander in and out of boutiques, visit tattoo parlors, eat at some of our best restaurants and walk to to all of it. Nob Hill is fun, great place to find the perfect gift for the difficult to buy for.

When my friends and I want to spend a day "hanging out", we usually head for Nob Hill (we kiddingly call it "snob hill", but it's NOT snobbish at all...just sounds funny). Nob Hill is located along Central Avenue between the University area and the NM Fairgrounds...the main section is at the intersection of Central and Carlisle. The shops are interesting and varied...not all that Santa Fe style turquoise overload...and the cafés offer unique and delicious alternatives to SW food. One of my friends loves antiques and further east, you will find many of these as well as some featuring "vintage" (read: old) stuff. We even enjoy popping into the Co-Op market (in the same little strip mall with Scalos Italian restaurant...also great). for some great groceries, especially the unsweetened, unsulphured fried papaya sticks...a yummy and healthy snack. The deli is wonderful as well. Our favorite shop is Hey! Johnny...we ALWAYS find something there. Don't forget the little hidden gems on the side streets and the parallel street to Central...free and lots of parking here! Wear comfortable shoes, bring your credit card(s) and your appetite and spend a day...
