We came for the setting -- a restored 1930s building full of Art Deco details -- and were happily surprised at the quality of the food. I had the garden bowl, and it was superb (I couldn't believe this was a chain restaurant). My husband enjoyed the chicken breast with cous cous. At other tables, I saw mostly locals (I think), not tourists, which is nice. The big windows let in lots of light. It was a little spendy (considering you order at the counter), but given the quality of the food, it was worth it I think.

The service in this place was great! So helpful, especially to a couple of travelers that spent most of the day driving! The food was very fresh tasting and of a great value. Overall selection was good, great veggie courses! The atmosphere was nice and modern, the way a lot of restaurants are going these days. A good place to grab a bite and plan out your next day!

Easy parking across the street. Minimal lines to order at the counter. Ordered breakfast at 12:30 pm and it was made to order very quickly. Enjoyed seating upstairs and the food was very good. Turned in someones lost purse and have no doubt this is the type of restaurant that will make every attempt to locate its owner. If ever in ABQ....I would definately come back here.

wanna meet the rudest staff in the City? Wanna feel like you are eating your dinner at a sewage factory? Then come to the Flying star on Central and Silver. The place stinks of sewage. The food is expensive like any other flying star stores, The staff is the rudest staff. Do not come here hungry as they won't let you finish your meal before your plate is taken away from you WITHOUT asking! And yet you have to smell the sewage while you are trying to enjoy your food before it is taken away from you by the staff!
Will not come back here and will not recommend it to any one. Will alert the Health Dept as I do not think the Health Dept appreciates anyone running a kitchen in a sewage factory.

The mac and cheese is great, as is the steak salad with noodles. However, this place is really, really tough on the wallet and all the atmosphere in the world cannot overcome. I limit my visits to Flying Star to about 1x every 3 months due to cost. But, they are fun and sometimes sitting with a friend is worth the cost in that type of atmosphere. So, if you are wallet watching, NO. If you want savory food, pretty good. Their cookies are great. Their cakes, not so good.
