“Delicious food---Amazing view!”
Reviewed May 23, 2013 via mobile

This restaurant is located at the entry of the tramway-- We looked at the menus for the two restaurants before we went to the tram and decided this was the place to try! It may not be the restaurant on the very top of the mountain, but the view from it was spectacular. The food was wonderful, the staff was great--you get a discount if you show your ticket from writing the tramway. The issue I had was as a thorough scrapbooker, I wanted to keep our tickets. I told the waiter that I would just go ahead and not take the discount so I could keep the tickets, that was not good enough for him so he worked it out with the manager and made copies of the tickets and gave me back the originals--it was a great place to eat with a wonderful atmosphere. Go up and see the sights and come down for some good food.

“Good food, atmosphere, and views”
Reviewed May 9, 2013

Santiago's Mexican Grill at the Tram, Sandia Peak, Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Here are the basics before my review:
Price per person: 15-25 USD (Full meal, drinks, appetizer, etc).
Food: Numerous choices of Mexican and New Mexican Cuisine (traditional, seafood, meats, etc). Full bar with numerous choices for beer, wine, and specialty drinks.
Service: Friendly, available to assist, typical bored wait staff socializing with each other (not a bad thing).
Atmosphere: Nice views, clean, tourist friendly.
Location: You need a car; located at base of Sandia Peak Tramway.

The restaurant was clean, large, and had expansive views of the City. Santiago's is attached to the Sandia Peak Tramway Building and shares the same parking lot as the Tram. There is also an outside deck-patio area with seating if you want to eat outside and enjoy the good weather in Albuquerque. The city views, city lights, foothills, and Rio Grande Valley are quite impressive because the air is clean and you can see very long distances due to the elevation of the restaurant.

The food was prepared well, and tasted like a mix between Mexican and New Mexican Cuisine. If you're not familiar with the differences between the two you will discover them if you dine out at several nice places in Albuquerque and Santa Fe. The flavors are distinctly different but appear to be joined at Santiagos during my visit, even though it is named as a Mexican Grill. There is a lot of cheese on the food as it is placed in an oven and baked so if you are not a fan of cheese you might want to ask for a lighter topping of it beforehand. There were many choices on the menu and I don't think anyone will be disappointed. I have dined at this retaurant once before and sat outside on the deck and enjoyed some drinks with family, and they still remark how nice that was. The second time I dined at Santiagos we sat inside and it was just as nice. The wait staff was on top of things and made sure our drinks were filled and empty plates were removed in a timley manner.

My meal was so good I got up from my table and complimented the chef.

I am not reviewing any particular meal because we ordered several items and shared, and all was equally good and prepared nicely.

Santiago's will not disaapoint, even if all you want is an appetizer and some drinks.

NOTE: The Parking area for the restaurants and Sandia Peak Tramway requires a daily permit / pass which cost approximately 1 USD on entry to the facility. This might be due to a land lease -- unknown reason but inconvenient because it is unexpected. However, it is cheap and just a minor thing you'll forget quickly.

Pictures attached from my visit. I hope my review helps.

“Good Food with a Great View”
Reviewed May 7, 2013

Sandiago's is a Mexican restaurant in the terminal of the Sandia tram in Albuquerque. The setting/atmosphere is fun. The food is good. The drinks, especially the margharitas, are excellent - be sure and try the coconut margharita. Best of all, on a clear day, is watching the sun set in the West over the mesas West of Albuquerque. Service was very good.

Friendly staff and very efficient. Food was nice but nothing to write home about. i had the Mahi fish tacos. If your looking for a decent meal before or after your tram trip to the top of Sandia Peak give it a shot.

“Coffee to go”
Reviewed April 25, 2013

Sandiago's Mexican Grill provides that special stop for evening diners with an extra kick, Sunsets and Margaritas. Service and food is good while at the same time, not priced too badly. This is a family oriented restaurant. Make this your last stop after a day of visiting the peak, you will not regret it.
