We ate at Flying Star twice during our recent stay in Albuquerque, once for lunch and then we picked up food on our way to the train station on our last day there. The food is delicious, and judging by the crowds everyone around there knows it! We enjoyed people watching on the patio, it's also apparently an after school hang out for the local kids (although there are enough adult patrons that it isn't disruptive at all).

I highly recommend this place! We'll be returning there when we return to Albuquerque.

I really like the food here. It is a little expensive but the quality of the food is worth it. The Flying Star in Corrales has a better ambiance.

Flying Star has a number of locations in Albuquerque. They are all and each far and away the best place in town for an interesting reasonably priced menu in pleasant, unpretentious (definitely NOT to say funky) surroundings. There is a decent range of choices on the menu. At this location there is an exceptionally pleasant patio (welcoming pets, thus "petio") with a large outdoor fireplace for nippier months and excellent shading for the hot parts of the year. This particular location is on an attractive stretch of Rio Grande Blvd heading into the North Valley.
FS in general is a stand-out choice in a city with very limited choices.
Sadly, in what was once a best everyday choice, prices keep tending up, up, up.

The kitchen at this child-friendly location serves the same tasty, varied fare as its siblings. What makes it special is the covered patio, perfect in ABQ's nine months of pleasant weather.
