My family has been looking for good Mexican food near the airport and after years of misses we finally found a hit. Food was great, service was excellent, atmosphere was very good weather you are a couple, family or group of adults. There were some pilots eating there along with locals, which confirms that this is the place to go for authentic quality food near the airport. My whole family enjoyed it!

This New Mexican restaurant near Kirtland AFB is an old standby. As always, the food is authentic, quite good, and the service pleasant. A good place for lunch. Parking is adequate.

Moderately priced, well prepared Mexican food. Fresh salsa and chips are served you as soon as you sit down. I ordered the special. The proportions were ample and delicious, not too hot. The only "Mexican" dessert available was pecan pie.

Our waitress was borderline rude. The kids menu was very limited and it didn't seem like they liked having my kids there all that much. Some of the food was good some was ok and some was down right awful! Their chips were over cooked and stale, the queso was almost $10 and it tasted very odd almost like they mix wine in with it. We ended up spending $75 on dinner and didn't have anything left over.

We ate at Cervantes last night after not having eaten there for several years. It was very disappointing. The service was average... it used to be amazing. Menu prices have skyrocketed - even when taking inflation into consideration (without a commensurate increase in quality). Portions were disappointing. My chile-covered chicken fried steak was okay, but not great. Both the beans and rice tasted pre-fabbed - as if they had been heated in the kitchen and not made there. The rice tasted like something out of a TV dinner and the refried beans were dry. We were really disappointed.

In Albuquerque, people often continue to accept lackluster service and average food because of tradition and habit. It seems that Cervantes has fallen into the trap of thinking that people are going to come back, just because they're there.

The one bright spot? The salsa.

We won't be making the trek over to Cervantes again anytime soon.
