“Good food and spirits”

An old Albuquerque establishment. First went here in 1976. Never have had a bad meal here. Want to feast for 6-8 people? Try Platters of Crab legs, Ribs and a BBQ platter.

Sadly this New Mexico icon of excellent food, and a REAL pour from the bar is only a distant memory from the past. The only remnant of the past is in the few original Nellos servers that somehow managed to escape the down grad of the restaurant. In less than a year this New Mexico ICON has been reduced to just another restaurant...overpriced, under poured, and average food. It was " let's give it another try, I'm craving Quarter's ribs" that beckoned us back in for 1 last try. It could not have been just bad luck or the full moon,it was poor quality of food, and lack of professionalism of the kitchen staff, that allowed both rib sandwiches to be nothing more than jerky on a rib bone. No doubt the ribs had been sliced for the lunch crowd and held over for the 1st unsuspecting dinner orders. Obviously the owners do not stress " if you would not eat it do not serve it". The concern for level of quality of product served to the customers come from the top. Clearly this is no longer a Connie Nellos restaurant.

“The best BBQ in town”
Reviewed January 18, 2013

We love this locally owned barbeque restaurant. It has been around for many, many years and owned by the same family. The BBQ sauce is what calls to many. They use a slightly sweet sauce that compliments anhything you put it on - even hamburgers. We especially like, and order most often, the BBQ rib platter. More than enough for 2 to share along with tasty cole slaw.

“Dinner party.”
Reviewed January 9, 2013 via mobile

About 30 people went for a dinner party last saturday. My family and i ended up getting the ribs for four, and the fries. The ribs were very tender, juicy and the bbq had a great flavor. We were stuffed, and happy. I read the other reviews and felt confused cuz our expierience was great, even for having such a croud. We liked it alot.

“Disappointments galore with new owners”
Reviewed December 17, 2012

After being run by Connie Nellos for 50 years, The Quarters' 4516 Wyoming Blvd location has a new owner, Kyler Choi. The other locations for The Quarters were not involved in the sale. The new owner has remodeled the restaurant. Unfortunately the new menu does not live up to The Quarters reputation. Not only do menu items cost much more, the ribs we ordered were tough and dry. The fare served here will have to improve dramatically to warrant the increase in prices (and my continued visits). Hopefully this is a start up problem and the restaurant will improve with time.
