A group of four of us had a lovely meal with margaritas at La Placita in Old Town. The chile is not too hot, but flavorful. The flat stacked cheese enchiladas (a la carte with red and green chile) were just right, and the margaritas were delicious. The waiter was friendly (but not too friendly), professional, and attentive. The sopapillas were some of the best I've had anywhere, fresh and soft, not soggy, and not too stiff and dry. The atmosphere in the old rooms in this historic building was subdued and elegant, but not stuffy. The tables were set with red tablecloths and cloth napkins. We ate in the covered patio with its high ceiling with the old tree projecting through the roof. On a hot evening, the temperature was pleasant inside. Often written off as a "tourist destination" La Placita on a quiet Tuesday evening proved to be a pleasant, relaxing experience.
