This is probably the most famous restaurant in Albuquerque....visited by many presidents and other famous people. It is very large and has lots of different rooms as well as outdoor patio seating. The ambiance can't be beat. We always take our out of town visitors here!

I went to El Pinto on March 22, 2013. I ordered off the GF menu and specifically asked whether the chips and meal was GF. The puking started 2 hr.s later.

We had a group of 15 friends and the pitchers of margaritas were delicious. Also the chips and salsa are outstanding. However, most of our meals were so-so as far as taste. The pinto beans and rice were especially bland. Thank goodness for the exquisite sopapillas to save the meal. At first, the waitress balked at giving us separate checks, but I guess she checked with management and got the okay. It would have been a nightmare to divide the check 15 ways! One person "sprung" to pay for the two pitchers of margaritas. There are much better Mexican food restaurants here and I usually only go here when it is someone else's choice.

huge parking lot and charming decor. divided into rooms for a cozy feeling. our group of 25 was given their own room so we could move around and talk easily. generous portions at a great price. try the fried green chilies - not hot and very tasty. i had the chicken aconada which is marinated chicken breast and very tender and tasty. everyone enjoyed their food.

We went for lunch and stayed through Happy Hour! A very large selection of tequila's and a great taco bar is available during Happy Hour. The El Pinto Double Barrel Reposado is definitely a great choice.
