We decided to try out the Church Street Café after seeing good reviews and the menu posted everywhere around Old Town. We had to wait to be seated and then once we were seated it took about 10 minutes before anyone actually came to our table to take our order (drinks+food). He blamed it on training new wait staff but that's honestly no excuse for poor service. The chips were a bit thicker than what I prefer and the salsa was very hot. The food arrived after awhile and it was made to our liking. The tacos were excellent! The tamales were good and tasted genuine. If you're traveling with someone, make sure they know that the green chile is very hot and to order it on the side. Sopapillas were served for dessert and they were hot and fresh and tasted excellent. I doubt we'd ever eat here again but it wasn't a bad restaurant.

Wonderful old adobe with many dining rooms to choose from as well as a patio out back and large added high ceiling room for groups. The New Mexican platters are big portions - the Carne Adovado and vegetarian Chile rellenos are great – they come with beans and either spinach, rice or squash.

They allowed us to sit in a room that was not opened up yet but the waiter said he would accommodate us – very nice service!

Drinker drawbacks: They don't offer any draft beer on tap - only bottles. The New Mexican craft-beer scene is exploding with quality fresh beer and the Church St. Cafe is not paying attention. What's more, the margaritas are pre-made Jose Cuervo mix, not a fresh lime house blend. Yuck!

Fresh, piping-hot sopapillas come at the end of your meal with honey.

My wife and I love the breakfast burrito at this cafe. We ordered the burrito with green chili. You can get red or "Christmas" as your other choices. We sat out back among the grape arbor on a mild summer day. What a pleasant little garden spot to share a meal. The service was quick and efficient. The meal was hot and delicious. We'll be back, because breakfast is the most important meal of the day!

There was a group of 15 of us - and not one of us was able to finish the meal - so much food! I had the taco salad and one of my friends had the soft tacos. Lots of meat in both.

Our waiter was on his own with us but got all the orders right and was efficient and friendly.

Most of us had close to exact change and he noticed and appreciated that we did. That was nice of him to thank us for making his job easier.

Service good, food terrific for me. A little to spicy for the husband. Decor is amazing. The building and the history of it an the family are worth the visit. Margaritas had just the right amount of tartness. Owners were friendly and make you feel right at home.

Thank Terik
