“Very cute place with good food.”
Reviewed November 25, 2013

Our friends took us here because they had their son's rehearsal dinner here. We ate in the garden area. It was just beautiful. We had fajitas which were very good. The service was wonderful and they were very friendly. The prices were great. The location is in Old Town Albuquerque which you are near many other restaurants and shops.

“Original is great”
Reviewed November 25, 2013

The original cafe' was the hoime that belonged to a longtime resident of Old Town. When she died, it was sold to those who opened it as Chruch Street Cafe'. The space was small and there were often lines waiting to get in to eat at this wonderful place. Once in, it was quaint, quiet, peaceful and filled with marvelous flavors making it worth the wait. To build business and cut down on waits, a new, large room was added. So to get there, one walks through the original structure to get to this huge room which is large, impersonal and not an example of fun experience eating. If you go to the Church Street Cafe', I suggest requesting seating on the front patio if it is warm enough or in the original structure; but, not in the adjoining auditorium.

“Top Quality Mexican”
Reviewed November 19, 2013 via mobile

Thoroughly enjoyed this place. I'm not that big on Mexican cuisine, but local friends insisted we go and it was great. Authentic menu, friendly, helpful wait staff made the meal most memorable. Will return again when in the area.

“Wonderful decor and better food in heart of Old Town”
Reviewed November 16, 2013 via mobile

Authentic, sedate Mexican decor throughout with several dining options inside or out. Food was a bit too hot, even for Latin palates and not enough care taken to integrate whole green chili into dish. Seems to be trying too hard to fuse cultures but cleanliness and general atmosphere make it well worth a second and even third try...

“well, the courtyard is nice”
Reviewed November 14, 2013

As long as I have lived in Albuquerque I have missed out on why folks think this place is so special. It is just isn't at all special. The Mexican food is standard at best. The southwestern decorated old house is mildly pleasant, though dark and not particularly comfortably arranged. The service is tourist-geared: smiley and not all that adept.
The place does have a small back courtyard which in-season can be quite nice.
All in all: yawn.
