This Rudy's is located next door to the Marriott Residence Inn on Prospect Ave in Albuquerque. I was glad to learn that it was the same as the original Rudy's in San Antonio, TX. The BBQ food was excellent.

We moved here last summer and have been wanting to try Rudy's, but I was disappointed. The meat was on the dry side...the sausage was the best thing we had. We ordered beans, potato salad and slaw as our sides and they were all just average. We weren't that impressed with the sauce, either...maybe I'm just spoiled from that year I spent living in Memphis!

We picked up an order of brisket to go for dinner. Granted there are numerous styles of BBQ and from experience, this appears to be Texas style smoking with oak.

There are those who swear Rudy's is the best barbeque on the planet; others say it's so so. I'm of the second camp. Surely, there are better places for barbeque in Albuquerque. The few times I've been here, the meat looks (and tastes!) like it's been sitting there for hours. Sides? Run of the mill. There is nothing memorable about this place, but it will do in a pinch.

The meat is always tender and moist. The sides are very tasty. Service is quick and efficient. Sometimes the tables are a bit sticky, but heah, it's a BBQ joint with sticky sauce. :)
