We visit our family here every year (we're from Wisconsin) and we never fail to dine at La Salita at least once or twice on Wednesdays for the shredded beef burrito smothered in lots of melted cheese! OMG! Simply the best Mexican food we have ever had! Had to wait 45 minutes to be seated, as it was very crowed, but it was worth every minute!! Service was friendly and they serve HUGE glasses of soft drinks of your choice. If we lived here, we'd be there every Wed.! The sauces are a bit hot for us wimps, but had it on the side and poured a little on my burrito - ummm!
Do we have to say we'll be back?? You bet we will!

My partner and I landed in Albuquerque and thankfully had checked with Tripadvisor to find a good restaurant near the airport. La Salita is maybe 10-15 minutes away off I-40 and we were soooo glad to have found it! The food was simply delicious - true Mexican. We had our first of many sopaipillas while in NM and would highly recommend this restaurant.

Wednesday is shredded beast day...it is amazing. Go right at 11 or you will have to wait until the first wave is done, it gets crowded fast.

After a long stretch of driving my wife and I were looking for Mexican restaurant. This restaurant was highly rated and we were not disappointed.

The night we came the restaurant was very busy. There was a large party that occupied the lower eating level, and a group of 11 also showed up. We were told there would be at least a 30 minute wait and the wait was about 35 minutes. We didn't mind the wait since the estimate was good.

Our waitress was Nicole. She did a good job of explaining the menu items and gave good recommendations. We both ordered the 3 item combos. I had a half burrito, half stuffed sopaipilla, papas and refried beans. My wife had a similar combo. We both ordered the red sauce, which is the milder sauce but has lots of flavor. The combos were very filling and very delicious.

The combos come with a dessert sopaipilla which we took with us. We ate it the next day and enjoyed it.

The restaurant serves chips and salsa with the meals. The salsa was tasty but perhaps the spiciest sauce we have ever had served with chips. I enjoyed it but it was too spicy for my wife.

Overall the food was great and worth the wait.

Came here per the recommendation of the rental car bus driver. A 30 minute wait and worth every minute. The chile relleno was perfect! Golden crispy shell with the perfect spicy pepper. And cheese - if you love cheese, come here. They do not skimp on meat or cheese or anything good. Note: they do not have margaritas. Beer and Mike's Margaritas are all they have available.

Salsa is warm (temp) and incredibly tasty. Recommend the combos - even if you split them. The rice was popular at our table. And the sopapillas - fluffy, fresh and perfect. Great good, friendly hard-working staff, local business, supporting their community and humane society - win, win, win! Good job La Salita.
