“Nice course, a great outing”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2012

Six of our group of nine played here. Staff was friendly & very helpful. If you are staying at the Sandia Resort hotel, they will shuttle you and your clubs to the Clubhouse and back when you're finished.

They had aerated the greens, so we got a discount on the rate - $45 each, including the cart. The driving range has more balls available than you can hit (included in the greens fee). Carts have GPS screens.

TIP: Don't go off the cart path on the 1st Hole. Your cart will stop & you will have to back out. The group behind us thought it was funny watching us try to turn around to no avail.

This is a challenging, yet enjoyable course to play. Plenty of desert rough for the errant ball to hide in, but if you can keep it in the fairways you'll have a great time. Since we had a variety of player levels, we opted for a scramble format - two teams of three. Our final score was 67, and the other team's was 72. Everybody had a great time.

“Sun is out n course is gorgeous put your chips down and enjoy!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 2, 2012

Most golf courses in New Mexico are pretty.... And most resort courses in NM are well maintained, however very few of them are well run and offer an exceptional experience. Exit I25 north at Tramway and head east, towards the Mountains (Sandias, Spanish for watermelon , sunset will answer your question(s), and you will see Casino, Hotel and glimpses of golf course. The color green n contrasting browns, reds, and tans are breathtaking but they don't tell the whole story. Meander around the property behind the Hotel n Casino n u will find the Pro Shop n Bag Drop. I have played Sandia 300(?) plus times and have NEVER found the bag drop unattended. Very uncommon for NM. EVERY employee knows their mission is to make you feel welcome n it shows! Bag drop, pro shop, grill, turn house, rangers/starters/ambassadors, they all GET IT, and make u feel welcome n appreciated! The course is incredible, great conditioning and layout, greens true n receptive, brand new carts w latest GPS technology, new bev carts, etc etc. Typical resort course in that fairways are surrounded by rough that tries to 'guide' errant shots back to the middle. Be mindful of mountains and Rio Grande as putts tend to break away from Mountains toward river! Some of the best Green Chile Stew in town, great burritos and Nachos as well. Pace of play can be 'leisurely' but that could be nit picky. Play the tees that most accurately mimic what u play "at home" and u will have one of the best golf days ever! Btw...the Mountains turn a gorgeous pink hue at sunset....everyday....hence the Sandia/watermelon moniker.

“Decent golf course, but there are better options nearby”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 16, 2012

My golf foursome makes an annual trip to Albuquerque to play golf. We played this course for the first time last year, and our consensus was that it was a decent golf course but compared to others around Albuquerque it came off as pretty boring. While it has a great view of the Sandia mountains, you could drop this course into any city in the US and you would never know the difference.

“Currently in GREAT condition”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 10, 2012

Played morning of 7/5/12; Course in GREAT shape; FAB course for both the serious & casual golfer. Don't play often or well? Set your ego aside & move up a Tee ( or 2! ). You'll enjoy this gorgeous Course more. WELL stocked Pro Shop; WIDE variety -- both men's & women's.

“Fantastic golf course”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 25, 2012

This by far the best golf course in NM. From the time you drive through the gate, you will be impressed with this exceptional facility. The staff in the clubhouse and restaurant at the course were first class. The practice facility was large and very well maintained. The course is a wonderful design. Fairways are wide, lush and properly mowed. Bunkers were well placed and greens were perfect and fast! Multiple tee boxes allow all skill levels to enjoy this high desert jewel. The grounds crew at this place should be proud of themselves for the great job they have done maintaining this course. Cannot wait to play it again!
