“Relaxing trip to Santa Fe for Lunch @ Tomasita's”

Here for a family reunion (wife's family is from NM) and the Balloon Fiesta, we took the train from ABQ to Santa Fe where Tomasita's happens to be in adjacent to the depot. I've ridden trains a handful of times in the north east and the Great Britain.

The train departed and arrived on time, the conductor and ticket tacker were friendly. The cost was reasonable. Side benefit was being able to have a margarita and not have to worry about driving.

We took the train from Albuquerque to Santa Fe for a day triip. The trip at $10 R/T was a great bargain. The only downer with the train were the "squallers" climbing over everything and parents who refused to control their kids in a car promoted by the railroad as a quiet car.

If you don't have a car, sure take the Rail Runner to visit Santa Fe from Albuquerque. Otherwise take the Turquoise trail to Santa Fe. The rail runner is an uncomfortable plastic commuter train, inflicted on the tax payers of New Mexico at great cost by liberal money wasters in State Government. It has all the charm of a bus station bathroom.

Get in your car or on your motorcycle and drive the Turquoise trail, stop in Madrid for lunch or breakfast and enjoy much better scenery that you will see from the Rail Runner.

I enjoy taking the train occasionally to Santa Fe for day trips. The wifi on the train barely works but there's some neat scenery and its nice when you bring some one with you that you can face each other while talking.

My husband loves trains, so on our way to Colorado we stayed in Albuquerque so we could ride the train Santa Fe. What a great service for this community! It must save a lot of commuters money in gasoline and car maintenance. The tickets are reasonably priced too. The trains are lovely. They have a road runner motif and when the train is ready to depart, the audio alert is "meep, meep". We loved the rise and had a beautiful day in the State capital!
